No decision from TT
I hope that this is true, but I am not holding my breath.

I was hoping to get some updates tonight because of the TX bball banquet....
you know the media is present and will ask Tristan, Jordan, and Joseph for updates…….looks like we got at least one update.
Come back Tristan (unless you are a lottery pick).

good news
everyday that passes that TT or Hammy doesn’t declare is a better sign that they will stay.
i dont even know why they are asking joseph this question.. he’s definitely not ready yet.
They're talking about Cory
Because of the Barking Carnival report that Hamilton is gone, Thompson would declare when Hamilton declared (which makes no logical sense as a corollary since TT had to expect Hamilton would be gone anyway at the start of the year), and Joseph would possibly test the waters too.

Is doing the exploratory thing worth it?
Not many guys with a credible chance seem to turn back, so is that feedback really helpful? Maybe there is a better way to get a handle on future value without having to wait until just before the draft.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.
I think it is
If you are genuinely on the fence about whether YOU as a player think you’re ready. If you’re doing it for the cash, you’re gone. If you’re doing it because you’re tired of college, you’re gone. If you already know you’re ready, your likely gone. But I think for guys like Hamilton or TT it would be a great way to find out if you can compete with a bunch of player that are almost ALL going to be less ready and, well, good than any of those already in the league.
But for a guy like Joseph that nobody (referring to informed fans, not mock draft sites that base draft position on high school recruiting rankings) really expects to be ready for next year’s draft either, it doesn’t make any sense because you can only “test the waters” once.

Another way to get same information?
What I’m wondering is if there might be other ways for players to assess their draft value besides going through this process. If so, I could understand not waiting.

A lot of what they glean
Is based on actual scrimmage scenarios, which can’t really be duplicated at the proper intensity levels without the motivation of showing off for scouts.
Not sure if there are any other methods. Were you thinking of a particular skill or readiness indicator they’d measure, or just readiness in general?

Not sure
If I were trying to forecast the draft lottery, I would partition my pool of prospects into those that are sure-fire lottery picks and those that need further evaluation. As I got more information, I would sort out the maybes. So if a reliable source is telling JH or TT that they are in the first category — ie locks to go in the lottery — then they might make a decision on that.

I received some insight into this process during Augustin's final year.
I spoke with Barnes’ assistant (later realizing it was Ken McDonald) on a flight from Baltimore and asked whether or not he had any indication if D.J. would stay at Texas another year. He said they hadn’t bothered D.J. with any of that yet, but would soon begin assisting with his draft entry decision. He said the Texas staff would call all 32 NBA teams on Augustin’s behalf to gauge their interest, then make a recommendation to him & his family based on the responses. If he had numerous teams with 1st round interest, they would probably advise him to enter the draft. We all know how that turned out…
*If numerous teams indicated 1st round interest...
Nothing earth-shattering there, but I found it refreshingly thorough to call all 32 teams.
Chip Brown said this morning on 104.9 that two sources tell him...
both TT and Jordan will be entering the draft with agents. Good luck to them if that is true!
