Sam Acho Named Big 12 Sportsman of the Year
As if anyone needed any further evidence of how incredible of a person former Longhorn defensive end Sam Acho is, the Arizona Cardinal draft pick added another accolade to his lengthy list, as the Big 12 on Tuesday named Acho its Sportsman of the Year for 2011.
Started a little more than a decade ago, the award recognizes one male and one female student-athlete each academic year who display an extraordinary degree of sportsmanship and/or community service. Acho, of course, fulfills each of those requirements in spades, conducting himself with dignity on the football field and making his annual trip to Nigeria to provide medical treatment to the needy, among a host of other accomplishments too lengthy to list here. Read about them at Texas Sports.
Acho is the second Texas football player to win the award, joining Ahmard Hall, the walk on and former Marine who currently plays with the Tennessee Titans.

Ditto to this
But Acho is also very deserving, so congrats to both for being outstanding young men both on and off the field.

Agreed
I think no matter who gets the award, both of them have already won.
Quinton Carter would have been a great choice, as well.
What we have here is a failure to execute.
