Spurs centered entire draft around Jospeh.
GM R.C. Buford at 2:24 mark in the video points out that the Spurs draft was built around getting Joseph with 29th pick.
This allowed the Spurs to trade beloved guard George Hill to his hometown Pacers for the 15th overall pick. If Spurs told Joseph of their plan in advance, this would help explain why Joesph was willing to keep his name in the draft. Give Alexis Wangmene the rare assist.

Love it!
My Spurs do their homework. They are usually pretty savy when drafting in the late and later rounds. If they really planned around drafting Joseph they must see something really special in him. Hope the trend holds up. Hook ’em CJ!

Especially to give up Hill
I’m going to miss that kid.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.
