From Scipio Tex: Pick Your Quarterback
With the quarterback situation at Texas parsed once, twice, and then again, it's hard to find new things to say about the contenders until they see some live action in the public eye. The mainstream columnists have little to add, as usual, but fortunately there's Scipio Texas out there with a fresh take, as always. Give it a read.

Watching Braveheart as I wait for the Asset’s follow up call after this text:“Ash got most of the first team reps tonight.” #Freedom!
I wish I could play little league now... I'd kick some fuckin' ass.
Confirmed by OB
Apparently GG started out with the ones, but when the first-team O went against the first-team D, Ash took over.

Like I said in that thread...
…I’m skeptical of the hype surrounding Ash, if for no greater reason than the much greater hype surrounding Gilbert’s camp performances approximately two calendar years in the past. He could turn out to be the wunderkind, but right now he’s just potential, no?
And not only am I hoping for one of the following, I also think they’re the two most likely scenarios: (1) Gilbert gets right with football and salvages his career, or (2) McCoy’s intangibles (eventually) put him in the starting spot.
QB Garrett Gilbert was the Beavis & Butthead episode of the 2010 college football season. Even when things were going well there was always one bad decision that meant he wasn’t going to score.

It's like farming
We could plant what we did last year, we could plant something new, or we could plant something similar to what we had in the past. Good gawd, did I just use a farming analogy, we need a moratorium on all things agrocult.
I’m not as quick to dismiss Case as some are. He has decent arm strength, he just has Brett Favre fundamentals without that arm strength. If he could reign in some of that, I don’t see why we should doubt a second McCoy.
And if the sonofabitches are gone, then it is goodbye. Good enough. nt-whills

I'm in this camp
It’s going to be several factors. This is going to be a very challenging decision for the staff. There are many variables on and off the field to consider. I wish it were as simple as who will give us the best chance of winning but I’m afraid that is just not the case.

Fair
If we’re going with the farming analogy, I think it’s safe to say that many calling for Ash are in the camp that believes that the last farmer (Greg Davis) sowed the seed on concrete and watered it with battery acid. If that’s the case, and they’re as quick to believe in the new farmer, it’d seem worthwhile to see what the seed could do in what is purportedly rich soil.

I think GG's "experience" is somewhat overrated
considering that experience came while running a completely different kind of offense throwing to different guys with a few different guys blocking for him
Sally, will you meet me at the airport?
