Amazing story on what Blaine Irby has gone through
Great read. Didn't know amputation was a possibility at one point. Whole new level of respect for him.

I've never watched the hit
and never intend to — I watched the game on DVR and knew to skip past it.
The presence of guys like Irby in the huddle gives me hope for this season. Last season’s team, in addition to being not very good, was not very likable, either.
What I’ve heard so far, I like the spirit of this year’s squad quite a bit.

Just like with Shipley, I will watch every play he makes with excitement and trepidation.
Every play. Good luck young man!

I'm happy to see him fight back.
I don’t know that I possess that type of drive and dertermination. I will be watching the same way as when Jordan Shipley got his first time on the field, excited for him and hoping that he stays healthy.

I have so much respect for Irby
I suggested on Twitter yesterday that Irby run out of the tunnel alone before the Rice game and do a lap around the stadium so the crowd could give him a standing ovation. It would be a very fitting and touching moment for a young man that has given so much to the program. I’ve seen this discussed on message boards, and I would love to see it happen.
Mack has PR sense in droves, I’m sure we’ll see something done to honor Irby at the Rice game.

No doubt he'll be carrying the flag at the very least.
But yea, I would love to see him singled out in some way. Amazing story, amazing young man.
Wow
Pretty freaking amazing stuff there. From 5% chance of walking to playing on the field in 2 years. The medicine is obviously exciting but that would have gone nowhere without Blaine’s determination and spirit. I hope he continues on up from here!
it would be sweet
if the coaches call the same play against Rice that Irby was hurt and he scores a TD… football gods, please make this happen
Even if he doesn't run out of the tunnel alone,
I hope the crowd does have a chance to salute him in some way when he goes out to take his first snap. I would guess they’ll put a shot of him up on the Jumbotron.

I've said it before but I'm just happy to see him walking after that injury.
I’ve also said that I don’t expect him to be a factor at all this season. It’s just shocking to me that he may contribute this year. What character & grit!
cant wait till he scores a TD
im thinking Irby is gonna be a huge part of this team from a leadership and performance role
