You are the math guy. Please explain this to me.
BCS computers are terrible.
SEC- Southern Evangelical Cheaters. Since Jesus didn't specifically mention cheating in football in the New Testament, they are good to go.
Texas has beaten two teams that have won all of their other games - and it's very early in the season.
Essentially this.
That and the Colley Matrix does not take into account preseason rankings, historical information, nor conference affiliation. Interestingly, they Colley Matrix ranks our Rice win as more impressive than our BYU win. It also does not take into account our margin of victory, and currently has us having played the most difficult schedule in the country.
Of course, it’s flat-out wrong, as you would expect two weeks into the season. One big misconception people have about BCS computer rankings is that they aren’t trying to reflect human intuition, but rather circumvent it by using only the facts available. As the season wears on and more facts are available, they tend to become more accurate.
Unless of you’re, you’re Richard Billingsley, whose computer poll is designed to mimic human intuition (not good).
Greg Davis haikus; a lot like his offenses; always go sideways.

I apologize for this abortion of a sentence.
What I meant to say was:

The computers
And the BCS poll as a whole, are only meant to be used after a full season of data is available for review.
Anything before a full season’s worth of data is available is just for speculation, and discussion.
The Colley Matrix is, in my opinion, the ultimate poll and the best one for its complete lack of bias. But looking at it today and wondering why we are number 1 is like flipping a coin 4 times, it coming up heads every time, and proclaiming that heads is the only outcome.
This was part of the reason I hated using the BCS as a tie breaker when we had the three way tie. Its not meant for that, its not even designed for that. Sure its a lot better at the tail end of the season then it is this early, but still, its only purpose is to provide an ordered list of teams at the end of the season.

It's the second week.
There is not a single computer ranking or poll that has real world implications until the final conference championship games have been played*. Who gives a shit.
*Barring retarded Big 12 3-way tie procedures
