PSA: Hoop Zone 10th Anniversary Celebrity Golf Shootout

Those of you in the Austin area who know about Hoop Zone are aware of the great opportunities it provides to area youth, combining kids' passion for hoops with the importance of learning and developing life skills. This fall Hoop Zone celebrates its 10th anniversary, and to recognize the occasion the organization is holding a celebrity golf shootout here in Austin. BON is proud to support Hoop Zone and happy to pass along details about what should be a really fun event in October.

Event: Hoop Zone Celebrity Golf Shootout and Social Luncheon.

When: October 12, 2011

Where: Butler Park Pitch and Putt, 201 Lee Barton Drive (right off South Lamar)

Details: Join Hoop Zone in celebrating its 10th anniversary by playing a 9 holes at Butler Park right in the heart of downtown Austin. Participants can win prizes for various contests like closest to the pin, as well as a $10,000 prize for a hole-in-one. If you're not into golf you can still enjoy the event by mingling with Rick Barnes, Chris Mihm, Ray Benson, and Johnny Moore. Coach Barnes will provide the keynote talk during lunch, while Ray Benson will provide the music.

I love

the Pitch and Putt, it’s where I learned how to play golf. It’s great to play golf carrying two clubs circled by three busy streets and a railway. Someday it will surely be replaced by faceless condos, so y’all should get out there and play.

Unfortunately I’m not in Austin, but maybe next year if I’m lucky enough to get back.
