Longhorn Network to Televise 12 Men's Basketball Contests
Starting in November, the Longhorn Network will televise 12 men's basketball contests during the 2011-12 season, ESPN announced on Thursday. The programming will include nine non-conference games and three conference matchups, as well as pre-game and post-game shows taking the viewer inside the team.
Here's a list of the games that will appear on the network:
Date - Time (all times CT) - Matchup
Sun, Nov. 13 - 6 p.m. - Boston University at Texas
Sat, Nov. 19 - 8 p.m. - Texas vs. Oregon State
Mon, Nov. 21 - 5:30/8 p.m. - Texas vs. NC State/Vanderbilt
Sat, Nov. 26 - 7. p.m. - Sam Houston State at Texas
Tue, Nov. 29 - 7 p.m. - North Texas State at Texas
Tue, Dec. 6 - 7 p.m. - UT-Arlington at Texas
Sat, Dec. 10 - 7 p.m. - Texas State at Texas
Tue, Dec. 13 - 7 p.m. - Nicholls State at Texas
Sat, Dec. 31 - 1 p.m. - Rice at Texas
Sat, Jan. 7 - 6 p.m. - Oklahoma State at Texas
Tue, Jan 24 - 8 p.m. - Iowa State at Texas
Sat, Feb 4 - 6 p.m. - Texas Tech at Texas
The move adds needed programming to the lineup -- although the announcement isn't a surprise, as basketball games have always been planned -- and the timing of the basketball season beginning in mid-November, along with the televised game against Kansas on October 31st, puts pressure on both ESPN and cable providers to add the network before Longhorn fans miss another football game and begin to miss basketball games, as Verizon FiOS and Grande Communications are the only carriers of note currently broadcasting LHN.
As always, the best way to help get carriers onboard with the Longhorn Network is to let your voice be heard by calling up your provider:

I wonder who will announce the games
Reid Gettys will have nothing to say now that Jai Lucas has graduated.
Bill Schoening
With the NBA most likely missing at least part of their season, he should be available
Doesn't matter as long as I have this available.

3/19/2009 & 12/15/2009 - Games Where Dogus Balbay Made a Three-Pointer. Never Forget.
So 4 or 5 less games people outside of Texas get to watch?
Spectacular. Certainly if Texas is playing a possible top 10 Vandy team in the Legends championship, it won’t only be available on LHN?
Ah, hadn't seen the link in your fan post.
Still blows. I live in Nashville and have to watch Texas play Vandy on my laptop.
I live in Texas and stil don’t have LHN available, how bout that for frustrating.

Awesome
Now I won’t be able to see nearly half of our basketball season!

At least they didn't take the KSU@UT game hostage.
Improve every day. (Read it again. It has more meaning than what you first see.)

I dont like missing about half the season either
but it appears if their is one to miss, then this will be it.
As an LHN subscriber...
This kind of thing is ruining my life. I try to be all zen and in the moment, but really I just can’t waut to see BU vs. Texas in what may approximate college basketball. Then my girlfriend is going to wonder why I am up late watching TV… it’s a mixed blessing.

Sigh, now that it has been brought up
What the hell is the latest on the LHN. Any progress on acquiring more carriers, i.e. Direct TV?

"North Texas State"? :)
"History lesson: Everything bad that has happened to Texas has been due to its association with the South. Everything good that has happened to Texas has been due to its association with the West." -- Paul Burka, Senior Executive Editor of Texas Monthly
Who used to get the money?
For these BB games that weren’t on ESPN? If they were shown on a UT regional network, did the B12 get any of that money? And how does the ESPN/broadcast BB money get split? And final question, how does FB third tier money get shared currently?
Where I am going with this, is how does the evil LHN change the financial distribution world? If a UT FB game slips to the third tier, and UT puts together a broadcast network, is that money evenly shared with all of the B12? Or just the visiting team? Same thing for third tier BB.
It hasnt been North Texas State University for decades
It is the University of North Texas
roy, wahoo, hopkins
Are you kidding me! On MB’s team!
