Texas High School Football, Under the Lights: Week 4 Preview
Jefferson Makes Lincoln Pay Scene - Fast Times at Ridgemont High Movie (1982) - HD (via movieclips)
Steve Edmond's Forest Whitaker's high school highlights. Let this preview serve as an open thread for all the Friday and Saturday Night Light action. Preview after the jump.
Another week of high school football, another Friday night of Bill rushing to a game. Therefore, the preview will again be abbreviated. Allen at Plano is on the menu tonight. This will be my first chance to see the # 1 team in the state of Texas, and top ten nationally ranked Allen Eagles. This will be a personally painful game watching Jonathan Williams for the first time live. My man crush on Williams is strong and well documented. I believe he is the second best feature back in the state of Texas. Yes I know who Trey Williams is, and no I don't think he'll be the feature back at TAMU.
Allen also features 2012 Alabama quarterback commit Alec Morris. Recruiting old timer and mustache enthusiast Randy Rodgers believe Morris is the best quarterback in the state of Texas. We'll see if Morris passes Bill's eye ball test tonight. Will Alabama pull another Greg McElroy out of DFW?
Plano is undefeated and was picked second after Allen in District 8 - 5A. This could be the top game in a very good district. Can Plano shock the state and pull the upset?

I have to tip my hat to PCA
It’s very cool that they webcast their games. I’m looking forward to watching Julius Randle webcasts when basketball season starts.

Apparently Zach Peters
the Kansas b-ball commit and former Texas target, went off big-time. Don’t recall the numbers, but it was well over 100 yards receiving and a couple touchdowns.

I think the ISU game will be close but we barely pull it out like the BYU game.
Then head into the OU game undefeated for our first real test of the season.
Well if we beat BYU by 1 point
And were to beat ISU in a similar fashion, wouldn’t that make OU our third real test?

The ISU defense honestly doesn’t scare me. If Texas plays their game, they’ll win.

Manvel and LaMarque on Sports Radio 790 in Houston
Any Houstonians have any idea as to why Sports Radio 610 doesn’t carry UT football games anymore? Who does in Houston now?

This year's cardiac kids
how many miracles does it take to save a season anyhow?
Because being a Texas fan means never having to say you're sorry.

Austin High got a beatdown again from Cibolo Steele
Not much from Cayleb Jones, who had to leave for a while with a cut on his arm and got into some jawing matches with the Steele secondary, which pretty much locked him down — not too hard when a defense can devote essentially half of its resources to stop the only offensive threat on a team.

I was at McNeil-Round Rock
Bit disappointed not to get a look at 2012 McNeil LB Tyler Taute, who is a big kid with some solid film who was out with an injury.
Did get a look at 2012 Round Rock DT and UTEP commit Glen Antoine, who is on the small side for a DT and has some pretty skinny legs for the position, making me wonder about his lower-body strength. He also apparently doesn’t have the stamina to play multiple possessions in a row, as he had to come off the field quite frequently — bit disappointing there. He did, however, use his hands well in his pass-rushing moves and shed blocks at his legs pretty well. Solid, not great, quickness off the ball, with a decent motor. Worry about his thin lower body and how that might effect his ability to hold his ground against the running game in college. Definitely a three tech. Cold see how he performed well at the Texas camp, but not a guy I’m clamoring for Texas to take another look at.
Didn’t see much from 2013 CB Dakari Antoine, Glen’s little bro, as McNeil runs an option attack and rarely throws the football. Not sure that McNeil targeted him in coverage until the a late fourth down, when Antoine closed quickly on what looked like an open pass into the flat and deflected the pass, with spun in the air and was nearly caught for a big first down that would have given McNeil a late chance to tie or take the lead. Nice awareness and closing speed. A guy to evaluate, but again, not sure that Texas is going to take a seriously look at him.

Hows Lee looking this year?
Its hard to get a read up here in DC with no game footage; seems like its been years since they’ve fielded a more-than-just-decent team.
Allen destroyed Plano in a very uncompetitive game
I’ll have more on Monday, but if Plano is the second best team in 8 – 5A , Allen should roll unscathed into the playoffs
