In all this expansion/realignment/super conference talk, my buddies and I seem to be at a loss when discussing Texas' long term options. To be upfront, I am an Ag alum, although I've been posting on this site for years and I'm certainly not here to troll or to setup biased posts. A&M clearly thought the Big 12 was too unstable and so they went ahead and jumped ship to greener pastures just as Nebraska and Colorado did. But I'm really not here to get your opinion on that because I'm pretty well educated in the dissenting ideas.
I'm here to get the Horn ideas on where UT fits in long term in conference alignment. Everyone is fairly on the same page that the Big 12 is on the way to breaking up, unless they can attract some great teams. But let's just assume it does break up. I'll give you what I have so far and hopefully you can re-educate me graciously.
UT won't go to the SEC for various reasons.
UT won't go to the the PAC x because they don't allow teams to have their own network.
UT won't go to the Big 10 because they don't allow teams to have their own network.
Thus, their only long term option is to become independent. Barring any change in conference rules or the LHN. Now I don't hear much independent talk from you guys so there must be something I'm missing. Please...enlighten me so I can spread the truth!
