Longhorn Nation Remembers 9/11

As burnt orange nation awaits the 2nd game of the Longhorn's season, I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to take a moment to reflect on the solemn 10th anniversary of 9/11 and the horrific attack on American soil. Let us not forget those who perished on that day as well as those men and women of public service who kept us safe and rendered aid to a hurting America on that day. Also let us not forget those men and women whom fight for the freedoms of this great nation and most certainly let us not forget those men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice as well as the families that still grieve their loss. As central Texas has been ravaged by wildfires this week, we are reminded again by tragedy of how important these men and women are. Let us not forget to send up a prayer for them as well as the many families that have lost everything. I thought it would be a great idea if the University of Texas hosted a food drive on Saturday and if they could ask everyone coming to the game to bring a canned good or two to support those in need. If anyone reads this or happens to have the connections or resources to push this idea up the ladder, I would greatly appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This would be a great way to show our spirit of what it really means to be a Texas Longhorn. Hopefully someone will push this up the ladder to get this rolling if it isn't already in the works already. Now I also didn't want to forget to share my thoughts on the BYU game this weekend. I think it is safe to say that Texas has turned a corner after coming off of a losing season. There is no doubt that this team has a lot of work to do, but it is a team that shows great promise and potential following the win against Rice. The BYU game will be a nice step up from Rice as will be the UCLA game. The Red River Rivalry is sure to sneak up on us as well and it will be the greatest test of all for the Longhorns this season. It was great to see Garrett Gilbert pass the ball last weekend without an interception and it will be interesting to see how well he continues build on his passing game. I have a lot of faith in Garrett Gilbert and I think he has every bit the chance to achieve greatness in the likes of Vince Young and Colt McCoy. He certainly has some large shoes to fill, but I think without a doubt he is the number one man for the job. It will also be fun to watch Malcolm Brown turn on the jets and hopefully put up some huge rushing numbers. Let me know what you think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last but not least, happy one week anniversary to the Longhorn Network................ I still hear crickets, but hopefully all of burnt orange nation will be able to tune in soon. I am still holding out for Time Warner to get a deal soon, but we shall see. Until then, I hope everyone has a super great weekend!!!!!!!!!! Good luck the Texas Longhorns this weekend and beat the hell out of BYU!!!!! Come early, Be loud, Stay late, Wear orange and last but not least, Hook 'Em Horns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
