Will Baylor fall back into mediocrity?
"A&M is a consummate insider with access to millions, yet they have managed nothing more than generations of mediocrity, and they blame it all on a cow and a television channel." - TCU'90 @ FrogsO'War
I'll feel better when this is still the case next Monday...
too much time to consider changing his mind.

Headed to Cleveland to compete with Colt
Change isn't good or bad it just "is". Don Draper of Madmen
Baylor better enjoy their success from this school year
Next year No RGIII, no Perry Jones, and no Britney Greiner.
Make no mistake, they wont be their usual push overs, but they wont be top 25 very much and definetly wont be top 10 often.
Don't forget
Terrence Gannaway graduates as well so they lose a pretty decent RB as well. If they reach a bowl next year, I’ll be surprised.
TEXAS FIGHT
Don't know how I forgot Kendal Wright
But they’re losing him as well. Their offense is going to have some growing pains next season.
TEXAS FIGHT
Wright, Griffin, and Ganaway are indeed huge losses
Griffin is almost certainly the best player ever at Baylor, although Smith was drafted earlier than Griffin probably will be. I believe Wright owns almost every significant receiving record Baylor has. Ganaway came into his own with a really solid senior season.
That said, they return three of their four starting WRs, totally 152 receptions and 2406yds. this year. Three starters on the OL return, with a total of seven from the two-deep. Salubbi just lost out the RB job to Ganaway, and both he and Martin return, although those two combined for just 98 carries for 599yds. Their TE’s return.
The defense, while it wasn’t really all that good, does return its best players, including Dixon. Overall they return eight starters and 19 from the two-deep.
Certainly losing college football’s top player will hurt them quite a bit, but as long as Florence picks up the system even a little bit, they’re probably going to be in very good shape to return to a bowl. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were to finish with seven or even eight wins next season, and they definitely have the capacity to knock off anyone in the conference on a good day.

I wasn't exactly conscious of college football back then
But I would be very surprised if Singletary’s college performance was stronger than Griffin’s.

Be surprised. He is now in the Pro HOF but he was twice as dominant as a collegian.
Singletary was peerless in the SWC throughout his four full years and legendary in his own time at Baylor. RG3 had a great career and one especially great senior (RS JR) year. However, they are definitely #1 & #2. Singletary was, easily, one of the best 2 LBs in the history of the SWC (Nobis) and is still a 1st-team defender on the Texas UIL all-century team. He played 4 full years at Baylor, is still the leading tackler in BU history, was 3-time all-SWC (‘78-’80), 2-time all-American, Football Writers’ 25-year all-American team, 2-time Davey O’Brien winner, the only junior on the SWC’s all-decade team of the ’70s, and led Baylor to a 10-2 record, a SWC title, & the Cotton Bowl as a senior in 1980, their best team of all-time. I high-fived him when he came down the tunnel during halftime of their infamous San Jose St. loss – my childhood brush w/ fame. Aside from ’83 Texas, that ’80 Baylor defense was the best I ever saw in the SWC.

Very informative--thanks, seriously

No problem.
It was a fun trip through the SWC archives for me.
Oh, and they get the RB from Temple
I hope that guy goes all Bryce Brown and buries himself on the depth chart and doghouse, but he’s something to consider. Drango will be a RS-Fr as well, and so he has a good shot at offsetting the OL losses. Their defensive backfield should be much improved with Dixon, Kent, etc. all in the system an extra year. Kent was rated as one of the better corners around before he had to go to Hargrave for a year.
