I don't understand his decision
I don’t think he’ll be a first or second day pick.
He does have good numbers though.
Dennis Dixon again?
He’s a very similar type of athlete, perhaps not as good of a leader, and he’s coming from the exact same kind of system. I don’t think it’s a very good decision, but then, I have a hard time believing he’d do much better in terms of draft stock if he were to return next season, even if he were to have a Heisman season.

I don't think that'll make much of a difference
Many consider Harrington to have been the greatest QB or even player ever at Oregon, and Bennett looks like that kind of passer. If he does start three years there, expect him to have most of the school’s passing records by the time he’s done.

#3 QB behind RG3/Luck
Might as well. The NFL is desperate for QBs.
Cut!
No. No. No, man.

I'd be surprised if he were the third QB taken
I’m thinking Foles, Osweiler, and maybe even guys like Weeden, Tannehill (!), and Cousins will go earlier. I’m expecting a fourth-round pick at best.

Doubt it.
Tannehill will miss the Combine. That’s where inept GM’s get all of their info about future players nowadays.
Yeah, I have Tannehill (injury, on-tape decisions) and Weeden (age, questions about offense) as "maybe" there
I’m saying there’s a chance even they could go before Thomas. Thing is, I guess I can see why Thomas would declare. The upside of staying may just not be there. He may see that he’d be fighting for his job against Bennett, and Bennett’s really the future of the position at that program.

Yeah that's true.
I wouldn’t touch Thomas with a 10 ft pool. I think Tannehill will drop but a shrewd GM will pick up Weeden earlier than projected. I think he will “wow” coaches during the meetings.
before injury
I would have placed Tannyhill as #3 and a late first rounder. Since he’s gonna miss the All Star games and the combine, I expect his stock to drop. So why not for Thomas since he has his degree.

Exactly.
I’m still confused on Tannehill suddenly being such a prospect. I just don’t see it. At all. 10 int’s against Texas, Oklahoma, OK State, and Arkansas. Yuck.

Well that's pretty high for me.
All bias aside, he’s only played QB for one year. His decision making is questionable, and he is non-existent in big games.
Of course, QBs are more valuable in the draft than any other, but I have Luck, RG3, Nick Foles (who is extremely underrated and I think will be a franchise QB), Tyler Wilson, and I almost want to put Oswieler over Tannehill. I also like Cousins better. I’m pretty positive Foles, Wilson, Cousins, and maybe Oswieler (with his measurables) will have their stock raised because of combine play. Plus, there always seems to be that QB that is drafted higher than he should have been (Christian Ponder) and that QB who nobody valued but a GM took a good pick on him (Andy Dalton) so who knows.
Wilson's staying at arkie for his senior year
As I said in an earlier post, I definitely think Osweiler and Foles are ahead of Tannehill, and I believe that’d be the case even if Tannehill weren’t injured. Granted, sometimes teams look past the inexperience at the position, despite the strong correlation (and convincing arguments for causation) between college starts and pro success. But Tannehill has basically 1.5yrs. as a starting QB, plus a few pre-seasons of competition for the starting job, and when he did start, he was pretty inconsistent and sometimes downright frustrating. I don’t think that beats out the pure tools and physical presence of Osweiler or athleticism, leadership, and development of Foles.

Didn't hear about Wilson, thanks for the info.
Actually, besides Luck, I like Foles better than any other QB on the board, including RG3. Call me crazy, but I just don’t rate RG3 as highly as most people. I mean, I’m not a QB evaluator or anything, but Foles impressed me this year with a psycho as head coach and nobody around him to help.
Keep in mind 'Zona plays a fairly legitimate Air Raid
Not that it means a guy’s not going to make a good pro because of it, but it does tend to inflate performance quite a bit. Littrell is a Leach/Mangino disciple.

Sure, just saying that the offense is designed for a QB to produce, even when things are otherwise falling apart

Late Rounds
There’s a chance he won’t even be drafted I think, much less be the third QB selected after Luck and RGIII. Too many similar type QB’s with better skills already in the NFL, and none of them have succeeded very well. I think he could catch on as a developmental 3rd QB for a team and potentially turn into an average back-up, but I just don’t see his ceiling being very high.

Somebody will take a chance on him later in the draft
just like chances were taken on Dixon, Troy Smith, etc.
Oregon has a QB--one who's far more attractive to a WR than Thomas, in fact
Bennett’s a much better passer.

I don't rate Bennett as high as you do.
He wasn’t a world beater coming out of high school. What makes you so sure he’s going to be as good as you say?
No world-beater?
He was a four-star prospect, and he showed excellent passing and running skills when he stepped after Thomas was injured. I’m not sure what else you’d expect, but Darron Thomas is not a particularly talented quarterback, and Bryan Bennett is. A much more talented player in an offense that can easily make a so-so talent push for Heisman votes, as Dixon and Thomas did, is probably going to make for an even better result.

I meant to say Thomas isn't a particularly talented passer
Obviously he’s a fairly talented QB, but we’re talking about what matters to a receiver like Johnson, who probably wants strong passing skills above mobility.

As far as prospects go,
he was offered by Oregon and that was pretty much it. While I don’t put a whole lot of stock into that, his offers were like New Mexico St, Wyoming, etc.
I just think it’s a small window of performance from which to lump such praise on. Just my opinion though.
Fair enough
The offer list wasn’t very impressive, I’ll grant you, but reports have generally been very positive, and he looked very good in games I saw. There were some issues with Huff and Paulsen dropping a number of his passes in the Colorado game, as I recall, but the guy really protects the ball and shows great skills. But program scumminess aside, Oregon almost certainly offers a surer situation for Johnson to catch the ball than Texas does. Kelly does not mess around on offense.

why put so much stock about his HS performance?
He got lots of meaningful snaps this year. And produced big time.
What?
Bennett, Bryan 8 164.8 25-46-0 54.3 369 6 45 46.1
In eight games he passed for 369 yards, averaging 46.1 yards per game. He only completed 54 percent of his throws. Let me put that into perspective. Both Case freakin McCoy and David Ash completed a better percentage with triple the amount of throws!
Not to say Bennett isn’t a great prospect, because he is, but “producing big time” is quite the reach.
