First game
I have been able to watch this year(lots of traveling) so I have a question, are they just shooting better FT’s tonight, or has it been better all season? I remember last year was pretty bad.

Pretty impressive half, all things considered
Disastrous five-minute stretch with Kabongo on the bench and K-State hitting everything they threw at the rim. Really impressive comeback once Myck came back in the game.
Only up 1, and we’ll have to play equally well in the second half to pull it off. Still, terrific to see us flashing the potential we saw for this team. This is what it was supposed to look like. Please keep it up, Myck.

Great half by Chap
11 points and 3 rebounds in the first half. He has done well in Big 12 play. He is averaging 10 ppg (second on the team) and leads the team in Big 12 rebounds with 7 rebounds per game. Chap has a good touch, if Brown and Kabongo can get him the ball, Chap scores well.
Really bad mental mistake by Brown to shoot so early in the shot clock on the last possession of the half.
Does anyone else hate the rocking back and forth by KSU fans?

Tough Loss
But there was lots to like. Played through physical pressure and didn’t let lack of whistles our way affect our offense.
Best game Kabongo has played against top notch competition.

The refs sucked the whole game - both sides,
but I gotta admit, your guy got mugged at the end. Listening to Fran Fraschilla talk about how great the refs were was wretched.
Condolences. Hate to see a basketball game end when the ref swallows his whistle.

Refs tend to not blow the whistle at the end of the game so the game can be decided on the floor.
Brown was 8 of 28 tonight, a little under 29%. You are extremely unlikely to win when your star goes 8 for 28. Good job by the horns to keep it close.
The defense on McGruder by Brown and McClellan was poor. The good new is that Barnes is a good defensive coach and should improve the horns D a bunch by the end of the season.
McClellan hit 7 of 13 and looked good on offense.
Kabongo had 14 points and 10 assists with not much help from his team or coach to relieve the ball handling pressure.
Kabongo (best name in college ball, by the way) is going to be a real good one

Should be a much better defender by the end of the season because he is ultra quick. Barnes should give him some very high big man screens and give and goes to reduce the pressure on Kabongo’s ball handling.
KSU coach was smart to attack Kabongo’s D and get him out of his rhythm.
I realize we were on the road so the refs won't be on our side
but J’Covan Brown has to find a way to get to the line more. Needing 28 shots to score 22 points is awful efficiency.

Subtracting Brown's 8 for 28 shooting,
the rest of the horns hit 19 of 31, for a red hot 61%. It would have been good if Brown had passed more and shot less. If he put his back into it, he could probably average 8 assists/game.
Somehow the horns only got out rebounded by 29 to 27.
Oddity: while the horns committed a bunch of fouls (28), McClellan did not have a single foul.
