Situational context to inform curious reaction of Landon Collins' mother during UA game.
Interesting story. I was one who raised my eyebrows at her reaction, but I knew that there may be hidden reasons behind her so called "upstaging" of his moment. It's unfortunate how this has played out, but I think it's a good thing someone at ESPN dug deeper to provide some backstory. Rumor and innuendo deriving from her reaction went so far as to suggest that LSU had offered more money for her son's services. It's unfortunate that the college football landscape today, particularly surrounding the SEC, has led to such a scenario being one of the first hypotheses to explain her reaction in the minds of so many. Thoughts?

Saban
Say it ain’t so….top NFL draft pick? Way to stereotype. Next year the kid will be sent packing by another over signed class. Ha. Tough situation though with a split family and then Katrina. Best that he follows his heart. I don’t think either program represents the up and up on morality and ethics anyway.
same thing stood out to me:
“She says the coach offended her during his stay by promising that her son would be a high NFL draft pick and receive a multimillion-dollar contract. “I think he stereotyped me,” Justin says. In her mind, Saban had told her what he thought she wanted to hear, when her real concerns were about academics and how a program would take care of her son."

Saban and Miles
two men I would not want my kids to be anywhere near
Irrespective of what Saban said
she would have found fault. Spare me the jilted mother bullshit. She didn’t give specific reasons she preferred LSU only one reason she didn’t like Alabama / Saban. Her behavior was selfish & irresponsible.
What I got out of the article was that she was less & less involved in Landon’s life, jealous of people who were more involved & a person of questionable morals. From the article it sounded like his father’s home was more stable & offered better support than she could. Those are the people who supported his decision.
articulated some of what i felt when i saw the video...
… Im glad the kid is following his heart. He seems like a good kid which is especially great to see after seeing how his mother seems to be

Didn't Corey Redding's Mom do the same thing?
I’m not going to assume anything at this point, other than Collin’s mom seems to be ignorant as hell.
I don't know about that
Granted, it’d be better to just support her son’s decision, but I can’t even stand Saban’s sliminess, and I’m not the one about to watch my kid go learn from him. Can’t blame her for thinking her son’s going to be molded by an asshat.

I am surprised reminding everybody that Corey Redding's Mom...
did the same thing slowed this conversation down to a dead stop.
I was shocked by her behavior.
Thanks for providing context
