Big 12 dominant in bowl season
The Pac 12 is really weak this year and overall our 8-5 record doesn't feel as bad when you look at how stacked top to bottom the Big 12 was this year. If KSU can envision Longhorns on the side of Arky's helmets, we could end with a 7-1 bowl record.

Keep in mind...
That the Pac 12’s teams all moved up a slot in terms of bowls due to the U$C bowl ban.
Texas Swagger
The Big 12 was easily the strongest overall conference going into bowl season
In both the central mean and simple average, according to the Sagarin rating as well as the old-fashioned eyeball test. It’s bearing out again in bowl season. Were I entirely simple and stupid, I might be inclined to beat my chest and chant the conference’s initials at a football game.

Meanwhile, the SEC is 4-2
With a 5-3 guaranteed (LSU vs. Alabama). If Arkansas beats K-State, SEC ends 6-3 to Big 12’s 6-2. Pretty even, but — the $EC has both BCS finalists.
Big 12 got double-figure wins from UT, A&M, Baylor, OU and Missouri, and the OT win by OSU. Loss was by 14 (Iowa State to Rutgers).
SEC got big wins from Auburn and S. Carolina, and 1-TD wins from Florida and Miss. St. Vanderbilt lost by a TD and Georgia lost in OT.
Pretty even, I’d say . . . As WAT points out, Pac 12 fielded a weak entry list with USC missing. Our victims were Cal, Northwestern (6-6), Washington, Iowa and N. Carolina, plus Stanford . . . SEC beat Virginia, Nebraska, Ohio State (6-6), Wake Forest (6-6) and lost to Cincinnati (9-3) and Michigan State (10-3).
Too many numbers. I’ll sleep a lot this week so I can, maybe, stay awake on Monday for the $EC’s field goal fest in New Orleans.
Surely
The SEC will complain that they got a ‘guaranteed loss’ but fail to mention in the same sentence that they get a guaranteed win.
If the SEC finishes 6-3, I’ll say they had a better bowl season for sure. 5-4 and it puts it in question, so it really boils down to the Arkansas game.
5-4 wouldn't be even close
6-3 would be more of a debate.
At any rate, the overall season performance is pretty firmly won by the Big 12, regardless of the Cotton Bowl outcome.
