Dear Santa, (re: DGB)
the Easter Bunny, the Force, God, karma:
This last couple of times I was this amped up for a recruit to join the Burnt Orange was for Vince Young (I remember also wanting Reggie McNeal at the time) and Darrell Scott.
While Vince turned out to be better than advertised and McNeal had his moments, Darrell Scott turned out to be a monumental disappointment. Therefore I am somewhat cautious, yet highly optimistic, of DGB's potential.
I try not to be overly excited about a recruit signing and becoming a Longhorn icon. After all, who saw Major and Colt becoming legends? Some guys turn out to be a bust, some never develop, and some have good, but not great careers.
If DGB does not sign with Texas I will be disappointed, but life goes on and I am super pumped about the incoming class and the future looks very bright. I wish DGB the best, as he has clearly handled the limelight and pressure very well for an 18 year old kid.
Let it be known that if DGB does end up in the SEC, I will be rooting for you on Saturday's - but I will clearly NOT be rooting for your team (since indications point to Misery and Sooeyville). If it is Misery, become accustomed to Pinkel's continuous blunders. If it is Sooeyville, enjoy your one year with Wilson.
Therefore to show that I am not selfish, I am proposing that all of this year's haul (Christmas, Easter, President's Day, Flag Day, Armistice Day and all the other days of bounty) be withheld from my doorstep. In exchange, bring DGB to Austin.
Thanks in advance,
Go Bevo
P.S. Hook 'em !!!!!!!

Ya know,,,I pretty much get what you are saying and certainly applaud your optimism. I will stand with my preference for recruits that bleed burnt orange from an early age and don’t play a petty recruiting Spin the Bottle game with the fans and coaches. Give me one young man that dreams of becoming ONLY a Longhorn and that has the basic skill set, physical package and determination to grow into their potential. I’ll take that young man over a man-beast with an ego and sense of entitlement any day of any week.
If a man is alone in the woods and he speaks, if no one hears him,,is he still wrong?
I haven't seen a shred of evidence anywhere...
that would support DGB being described as a “man-beast with an ego and sense of entitlement”.
Although, I think I understand what you are trying to get at.
My counter to that is…Between 2006-2010 we pulled in recruiting classes almost exclusively of “young men that dream of becoming ONLY a Longhorn and that have the basic skill set, physical package and determination to grow into their potential”…which is why we are in the position we are in today.

We'll win a few of these and lose most of them. This one, we're going to lose
But it’s more important that we’re in the game. We have to reach outside of Texas and act like the national program we are. That means getting involved in the drama intrinsic in an 18-year-old boy making life decisions, with moneyed interests trying to sway him.
For every Ryan Perrilloux, there’s a Jordan Hicks. The potential future leader of our LB corps should have been an Ohio State lock. I remember following the drama around his signing just like we’re doing now for DGB. Had we stuck with the instate orange-bleeders, we wouldn’t have him on the roster right now.
Regardless of what happens tomorrow, we need to step back from the ledge if (when) DGB goes somewhere else. Heralded recruits like this are like first-round picks in the NFL. Some will live up to the hype, others will fade into oblivion with finger-pointing and blame to go around. But where championships are won is in the later rounds. Recruits #1-#27 will be the future of this program. If we get #28, I’ll dance a jig at my cubicle tomorrow. But I’m not counting on it.

Anyone know the bad news on the Humidor (Inside Texas)
I hear we are out of the running with DGB, and there is already more attrition. Other then that they don’t give anymore info.
Nope.
I stopped reading Shuttlesworth, right after he sold-out against his own principles and went to a pay site.

Not that I don't appreciate free info, but the guy's put a lot of work into this
Jumping on the chance to be compensated for that work isn’t selling out. There are reasons I don’t worship Jesus as much as many do, but (1) he’s still a great read and outlet to follow, and (2) I think any one of us would do the same in that position.

Nope.
Shuttlesworth came out against Pay Sites. This was his principle. He like us, was a fan and he was very much against Pay Sites. This was his “Rage against the machine”.
This was his the entire premise of his articles from the very beginning. He even said as much in his first few articles.
So…it is selling out. When you ignore your stated principles for $$$ in return…that to me, is the very definition of selling out.

I have no problem for being paid for the work you do...
but you can’t go around talking trash about the Pay websties, the people who work for them and how much the “Free content” aspect was helping the fans get better content from Pay sites and then turn around the next minute and join the dark side.
Shuttlesworth lost all his credibility when he sold out and I’m was one of his biggest fans and supporters. Especially when he was working for the people, and not the establishment.
But, as soon as Shuttleswroth crossed the picket line, to go get paid…Shuttlesworth became a scrub.

You categorize people on a very black & white basis, don't you, HK?
It makes life & relationships SO much easier. Wish I had that ability.
Not that I'm taking sides,
but if he came out against pay sites and then took an opportunity to do what he was doing FOR pay sites, well that’s a black and white issue.

Dude, I was just teasin' you.
As long as GoBR, BLT, etc… keep relayin’ the pay sites info. to us, we’re all very happy.
It's easy Rob...
you just look at the facts and try not to re-invent history.
This is as black and white as can be.

If I recall correctly, he wasn't speaking out against the concept of pay sites
Just crowing that his info was regularly killing the pay sites, and that it was therefore a better place to go. Those aren’t the same thing, and the point I got out of it was that he was saying that it wouldn’t make sense to pay for inferior information. However, correct me if my interpretation was entirely wrong, because I admit that I have not read every single RC post.

I have to think Eyron Barnett's days are numbered
He’s been passed up by younger guys on the depth chart, injured, and now a public intoxication a couple weeks back.
I met his father and REALLY liked him, but Eyron hasn’t panned out as hoped.
We're Texas, We're not OK.
You think attrition is likely?
I suppose it’s possible, but I don’t think Texas coaches usually nudge a guy like that out of the nest for something like a public intox charge.

You should instead be excited about Jonathan Gray!

I think most of us are very excited about Gray...
but you’ve got Recruitocosm and Barking Carnival getting fans riled up all through December and January regarding DGB and those dudes are usually spot on.
So, it’s going to be a major disappoinment if he doesn’t pick Texas. Mostly because those bloggers and their Big Cigars have been telling us how sweet a spot we are in with DGB.

I remember thinking this way about McFarland
What a joke that was. Then he become a punk and hasn’t been anywhere near the top 5 DL hype.
I don’t wish DGB anything bad, but if he goes to MIzzou I don’t see bright stars in his future. I try to hope for positive things and not negative things. So, I will be cheering for the old school SEC teams next year and from now on.

OP, please delete this fan post stat!
EMBARRASSSSSSSING!
27-25: SCOREBOARD - to infinity and beyond!
Does your mom embarras you too?!?!
What is embarrassing?!?! Sorry for trying to lighten the mood as we wait for NSD. (And before DGB apparently eliminated us via Twitter.)
Please accept my apology as I am anxious for NSD. (that’s some sarcasm in case you missed it)
Embarrassing?!?! Wow. Thin skin.
Just kidding with ya!
I quietly felt the same as you but I know how rival boards would use your post as ridicule fodder. No worries. Hook Em!
I feel lethal, on the verge of frenzy. I am a college football fan.
DELETE THIS POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!************************************************************
another shit post from Go Bevo

please delete this trash

delete...why??
Because I’m wishing for DGB, yet realize it’s a long shot (and now out of the question).
Shit post?!? Seriously? What’s your problem? 2 in a row? Show me the first.
Free country. Free internet. Nothing I said was inflammatory. Where do you get off becoming the judge, jury, and executioner?!?
This is by far the best Longhorn website and is usually extremely tolerant of allowing people to speak their mind. I agree with banning some trolls and shutting down inflammatory posts.
Just because you don’t agree or don’t like a post/message!?!? Wow. Don’t ever question my loyalty. EVER.
my apology
you are right. my apology. there was a post yesterday with the same icon that was deleted
and i thought it was you. several people must be using that icon.
i had a bad day…… please accept my apology!

Itt's either iconic or ironic.
I can’t decide which.
no problem
I was simply trying to share my enthusiasm for NSD and the hope of DGB, but confirm the reality of the long shot.
I wanted to display some lighthearted humor (apparently it didn’t come through) and come to acceptance that DGB probably wasn’t coming (and has since been pretty much affirmed).
Just wondering if others had passed the denial/anger/acceptance stages like me and are now excited for the verbals to become signatures.
Yeah....way to Hug it out!!!
Now Hook ‘em Horns!!! And let’s get these machines a rolling.
I was just checking out Santos’ film that GBR just posted. Talk about a great late edition. That guy is a stud at MLD/ or WDE.
We're Texas, We're not OK.
Go Bevo, thanks for the post.
There was nothing wrong with it at all. Sometimes we need fun stuff like this instead of data overload.
