Sure, we won the last meeting with Case's valiant effort. That's so ancient history now. What we are seeing today is a new Aggie program, proudly matching up with the very best of the SEC. They are leading LSU - looking solid, looking proud, and stealing recruits.

Who wants to play for a Texas defense that can boast of hideous 60+ point blowouts to OU, whippings by West Virginia, and struggles against the likes of Baylor, TCU, etc.... Why play for Texas when you can go play in front of 100,000 (Ags are expanding their stadium) screaming fans who never quit and help create one of the most raucous atmospheres in the nation? Who wouldn't want to play annually against teams like Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida? What recruit wouldn't want the recognition that comes with playing on the biggest stage in college football, against the nation's most passionate fan bases and quality programs? Texas A&M has solid academic rankings, and has rapidly been turning into a top national academic program. - They are an AAU school as well, and they boast a presidential library.

Don't get me wrong. Texas will always get a certain level of decent recruits, but I fear that we are staring into the darkness of a long and horrible night. It has happened before. Remember the McWilliams and Mackovick days? Remember Jackie Sherrill and R.C. Slocum? The Aggies are much better than Texas this year. Coaching has turned that team around. It is time for us to change. We need to overhaul the staff. Mack Brown needs to resign, and switch to AD. We need youthful, passionate, smart, and cutthroat coaches. We need a new conference structure that can compete with A&M.

Therefore...I hate to say this, but we need to follow the Aggies and take OU with us into the SEC. It's the only way to turn the tide.

The bottom line at Texas is real. We have all the facilities, reputation, money, network, and everything else that a school needs to win big. However, A&M is closing the gap fast, and when they do, it's curtains for us for a long time. We aren't even the 4th best team in our own conference. And the fundamentals of our conference are weaker in the long term. Texas wants to dominate everybody. Well the joke's on us now. A&M is laughing all the way to a win over LSU. (I know there's a second half coming, but the Aggies sure showed up for the game - a lot more than we can say)

Don't think it can't happen. It sure as heck can. And it sure as heck is happening in front of our own eyes: win or lose against Baylor.
