Honoring The UT Patriarch, UT Dominates Iowa State
When I received news Darrell K. Royal had passed I broke down and cried. He was more than a retired coach living in Austin, he was the Patriarch of the Longhorn Family. Saint Darrell is embedded in the existence Texas Football. He is Texas Football. The University of Texas would not be one of the largest and most prestigious universities on Earth without DKR. My thoughts and prayers go out to Edith Royal and the entire Royal Family.
In a word the Longhorns have been sluggish in 11 am games, but not on Saturday. They responded, they showed up, they won for DKR. The Wishbone Tribute was a special, unforgettable moment with a great result, a 46 yard double pass to Greg Daniels. The play set the tone.
David Ash played his best game as a Longhorn. Johnathan Gray continued his productive play as the feature back. Magic Mike Davis might be the best deep threat in the Big 12. Jaxon Shipley had his best game this season going over 130 receiving yards. Malcolm Brown
The most encouraging sign on offense on Sunday was the emergence of TE Greg Daniels. He only had 2 catches, but he caught Wishbone pass for 46 yards and picked up a first down on his second catch. Texas might have a complete TE.
The defense has strung together 10 solid quarters on defense beginning in the second half of the Kansas game. Alex Okafor continued his All American season. Carrington Byndom has risen out of the grave and is back to being an elite corner. Josh Turner continued to make plays with a pick and a sack. Steve Edmond is progressing, posting 6 tackles and a sack. Malcom Brown made some NFL plays. Shiro Davis blew up a third down play for a big loss.
What I'm most excited on defense about is the emergence of Peter Jinkens. When I watched Peter at Skyline, all he did was make plays. The entire game. He's flashing now at Texas, and is the Horns best OLB.
My heart goes to Anthony Fera. He's dealing with an injury and some tough personal issues. Nick Jordan looked good as Fera's replacement. Texas had to sort out their kicking game, and they made a change. I think Fera should sit for awhile until he gets right.
On to recruiting, A'Shawn Robinson skipped his official visit to Alabama and attended the K State - TCU game. Robinson plans to visit USC in December. Should Longhorn fans expect his signature in February? I'll break it down.
Not much visitor news for the Iowa State game, but 2013 women's track target Bealoved Brown made an official visit to Texas. Bealoved is the sister of 2014 5 star DB, and Texas' top DB target Tony Brown. The Browns will likely attend the same school.
With Tyrone Swoopes going through a tough senior year, Texas has reached out another 2013 QB target per reports. Texas coaches have been in contact with Alpharetta, GA QB Joshua Dobbs.
JUCO OT Desmond Harrison will be at Banquet Weekend on an official visit. Texas is working to get JUCO WR Quantavius Leslie on campus for Banquet Weekend. Leslie is currently committed to offensive powerhouse LSU.
A Thanksgiving Showdown with the cockroaches looms. I'll preview the TCU game.
"Shoot the glass." Sure Hans, booby, let's start the chat.
