One thing I haven't seen much pondering on here is WHAT IF THE OFFENSE HAD PERFORMED TO PRE-SEASON EXPECTATIONS (i.e., relied on the defense to win games...while relying on the run in order to minimize turnovers)? Probably additional losses to Ole Miss, Okie State, Baylor and probably Tech almost guaranteed.
With regards to Harsin's potential departure, he would be STUPID not to take the Ark. State job. As an insider, he can probably smell the rotting corpse that is Texas Football from up close. And with today's ESPN article that blew up the "Mr. February" myth (something that was always a consolation to Texas fans for Mack's lack of on-the-field coaching aptitude) that made Mack look like a stumbling/fumbling idiot who allowed names like Matthew Stafford, RGIII, Andrew Luck and this year's HEISMAN WINNER QB to escape right from under his nose.
In sum, not only has Mack NEVER HAD the gameday coaching ability (instead relying on raw talent of VY and Colt), he has also lost his ability to evaluate recruits, instead making disasterous choices and bringing in a stable of QB busts to Austin in the past 5 years. Instead, he remains lodged in as a highest paid coach in CFB whose past "success" (read - TWO CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 15 YEARS) keeps him employed.
We, the Longhorn faithful, have created this monster that is slowly eating away everything it produced.
