Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

This summer, the only place I went to was Texas. And I thought, 'I like this place a lot, I think I want to go here.' My mom said, 'I think you should just wait it out a little and go see some other places before you make a decision like that.' I did, and I'm glad I listened to her, because I liked the other places I went to."

Texas target Tyrone Swoopes on the appeal of coming to Austin ($) to play college football, as told to ESPN HornNation's Max Olson.

Was at Baylor J-Day

and I think he was also at the Oklahoma Junior Day last weekend, so 247 doesn’t have it listed on his player page.

He was definitely there

That’s him w/ Jake Oliver

I like this kid

Good on him for listening to his mother. I know it’s not necessarily the best news for us, but it’s good advice to tell your child to think things through. Hope he picks UT, but wherever he goes, it should be for the right reasons.

Well...

…I can read between the lines…this kid will be signed before he plays his senior season

by ACnDaHorns on Feb 10, 2012 1:32 PM CST reply actions

Yep, good for him

I hope that him commits to Texas, but I’d rather him commit when he is 100% sure rather than commit and start thinking that he made a mistake and needs to look around some more. He will be asked to be the Offensive recruiting leader for our team, and he can’t do that if he hasn’t seen what other schools (ou/baylor/a&m etc) are offering. That goes both ways of course, but I think we win the recruiting battle for him. We’ve gone all in so I suspect we feel confident.

This is fine

Raulerson took a boatload of visits across the country and it is really telling that he picked Texas. He’ll be able to talk a lot about what benefits Texas has compared to other schools

Him taking his time also gives the coaches more time to evaluate

him and the other QB’s. Given how raw he is as a passing QB, not necessarily a bad thing.

Really intrigued

by Barrett and especially Cody Thomas right now. I really don’t think we can go wrong in taking any one of those three. Plenty of options for us and I’d be really satisfied with any of them.

any of them

most of us seem to have our preference. I fall in the Swoopes catagor. But more than that, i am with TxHorns989. These are three really talented QB prospects. Any one of the three, with the right coaching, and a redshirt year, can be a quality add for us

Really Hoping for Swoopes in the long run

I know Wescott always says comparisons to VY are lazy – but I seriously get VY flashbacks from his film. Same gait, some of the same cut backs, to me it is really scary similiar. I also like the fact that he is raw, we can shirt him and let him develop til he is good and ready to wreak chit.

Even a poor man's version of VY

is better than what we’ve had lately. Just saying.

by Amen Amachigh on Feb 10, 2012 6:11 PM CST up reply actions

he does look like VY out there

but his competition doesn’t look anything remotely like the players in Houston 5A.

I look pretty good playing touch football with my ten year old too.

I am not saying he won’t be good, just that his HS film has the potential to be very deceptive.

exactly...

VY’s high school highlights are against Katy High….Swoopes honestly looks like he’s playing 7th graders…slight difference

I didn't realize he's from the Okie border

Gotta keep him in-state.
