Texas could join fray for star 2013 recruit Robert Nkemdiche
The freakiest of physical freaks in the 2013 class is probably Loganville Grayson (GA) DL Robert Nkemdiche, a 6-5, 260-pounder who is currently ranked as the top player in the country by Rivals.
Per a Friday report from Recruitocosm on Twitter, Texas OL coach Stacy Searels could once again tap into his Georgia connections and relationship with Nkemdiche to get the Longhorns into the mix with the star defensive lineman.
Alabama is considered the leader at this point and it's obviously going to be a national recruitment, but what does Texas have to lose by going after him? Wouldn't it be terrible for Nkemdiche to tell a reporter days before inking with the Tide that he always wanted to hear from the Longhorns?

YES PLEASE!
Isn’t Searels pretty much the closest coach with this kid? I remember reading that somewhere before.
I’m glad we are at least willing to get in the mix. Why the heck not…
Recruitocosm
also tweeted that Searels has been recruiting him since he is 9. Off the top of my head, I believe that he has an older brother who is playing college football somewhere.

Clarification just tweeted -- 9th grade, not 9.

Great News!
We should be recruiting the top kids in the nation every year. Regardless of if they are OOS or not.
Good to see it happening.

Thanks for the clarification
Since age 9 would be really creepy. I can resume my admiration of Coach Seareles now.
I have it on good authority that if you type "Google" into Google, you can break the Internet. So please, no one try it, even for a joke. It's not a laughing matter. You can break the Internet.

I have a 9 yr old son and would have no problem with Mack recruiting him right now!

Oh dear god
Yes please. Nkemdiche is the most ripped defensive end I’ve ever seen in high school football and a physical anomaly. This is starting to sound like my sentiments on Su’a Cravens, who we also seem to be throwing our hat in for…
Nmm nmm nmm. Texas gonna EAT!

I've been meaning to do a post on Cravens,
but instead I’ve been doing commitment posts every day. Rough life as a Texas fan these days.

Nkemdiche is definitely ripped, but did you see Ronald Powell coming out of HS?
I think he might be the most amazing athlete I’ve seen playing football at that age.

I developed an unhealthy heterosexual mancrush on him while watching the Army All-American Bowl.

How can you be on a football recruit at the age of 9?
What was he, 6 ft 180lbs?

It’s 9th grade, not 9. Typo by JS on Twitter.

The guys at Inside Texas were waaaaaaay off on this one.
This question was asked a couple of weeks ago during one of their “Friday Q&A” sessions and the resident brain surgeon Eric Nahlin responded with something along the lines of “ha ha ha ha ha ha” I may be off a ha or two.
Nice catch GoBR!
Uhm
Eric is the one who broke the story…

Reuben Foster
Nkemdiche and Foster are rated one,two in the country. Foster is an inside LB. Foster’s tape is just as impressive as Nkendiche’s. Foster has committed to Bama and Nkem. is reportedly a Tide lean. Those two on the same team would be nasty.
Bama also has a pledge
from Altee Tenpenny, the Arkansas running back who combines an awesome name with some of the best testing results of anyone at The Opening last year. Nick Saban and company are outpacing Texas as the largest recruiting juggernaut in all of college football.

Isn’t it about time for Saban to move on. God we can only hope. Before Bama he had the track record of only staying in one place about 5 yrs., if my memory is correct. Just wish somebody would knock him down a couple of notches. He’s starting to irritate me like Stoopsy. I know jealousy is such an ugly thing. Really wouldn’t be so bad if, Saban wasn’t such an A hole.
Wouldn't be so bad
if that sentiment didn’t apply to Alabama fans as well.

The question
is whether he still has NFL aspirations. Not sure about that, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he does. I get the sense that Saban has a bit of an ego and if he does, it may be hard to him to pass up the right opportunity, though I think that he’s in the perfect situation at Alabama and has restored that program to its former glory in just a few short seasons.

funny
Saban has like 2 SEC titles in 8 yrs. He is God incarnate, but it is the same thing people have been grilling Mack for yrs over. I guess he is one NC away

Reflects some luck
I tip my hat to him, but his 2 titles have certainly been blessed. Colt going down and getting the rematch. Simply pting out that his SEC run has been very good, but not the domination people are trying to make it out to be

This guy
Is probably a Bama lock. Saban’s on a recruiting roll, his team is churning out vicious defenses and sending defenders to the NFL like clockwork. Also, he has a proximity advantage. For awhile I wanted OU to reach out, because Nkemdiche is just that ready to play, but honestly it just seems like a waste of resources. Robert has every reason to go to Bama, and basically zero reason to choose another school, Saban’s ethics notwithstanding.
Otherwise, this guy is scary. He’s got the power of Ronnell Lewis and the strength of a werewolf. Come to think of it, with Texas’ considerably resources, why not throw the hat in the ring?

Couldn't hurt to kick the tires.
I mean, recruiting surprises are happening more and more, look at Torshiro Davis.
Plus
Searels knows him, and we send our fair share of defenders to the NFL too!

I think
We can afford the long distance phone bill. I will donate the 100 dollars to cover it if Mack asks. I would not do multiple trips out to Georgia but one flight and a few calls is fine. If the kid decided to come down for visit, then you ramp it up. Nobody gets laid waiting for the hot bonde to come to you at the bar

Why shouldn’t we offer theirs?

Texas Has A Chance
His older brother Denzel plays for Ole Miss so Bama is no lock .
He is SEC gold so they will all do anything they can to get him
Plus we do have three coaches form the SEC one in particular who know the kid well
247 isn't optimistic, but when are they ever?

Exactly
I’m just happy we are putting our name in the hat…why not? Nobody thought we would be in the final 3 for DGB either…
Both
But he’s a defensive lineman in college.
