Follow the Bouncing Ball
So the rumors just get stranger and stranger. Seems the latest fad in hand-to-eye coordination drills has come to Stair Ball...which is exactly what you would guess: kicking or throwing a lightweight, air-filled ball up a flight of stairs. What will the gods of sports development come up with next...chair-staring? I can see how that would improve concentration and focus. Call me a skeptic, but I have yet to hear a solid case defending the employment of Stair Ball. Maybe some of you could oblige?
More after the jump...
So a ten-year-old is struggling a bit, but four-star prep football stars should dominate, right? Think again. The stud athletes are just as unskilled as our friendly, young YouTube Stair Ball enthusiast.
Evidently the game is some absurd offspring of stoop ball (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoop_ball) and bowling. Just...stop it. I mean, really. Hopping back and forth over a jump rope is one thing, but throwing a ball at stairs? Shoot, maybe I should change my opinion. Maybe...if I do really well at Stair Ball...I could get a job as an Assistant to the Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning.
Anyway...please, gents and ladies...your thoughts on Stair Ball...

Yes, Sam, please post less original FanPosts
We very much welcome you to the site and your willingness to contribute, but please keep in mind that, for every new FanPost you author, another FanPost written by another BON member is removed from the home page and active discussion. Seven separate FanPosts in less than four days is probably excessive.

agreed...
…lets talk Texas Longhorns Athletics, no one cares about some dumb drill that our WR’s would probably just take as a joke…keep your aggie skills and drills to yo self!!!
I've sorta already been doing this for agility purposes
but I’ve been using a thawed, extremely gelatinous large turkey instead of a plastic ball. Can’t really tell if it’s working or not yet.
I feel lethal, on the verge of frenzy. I am a college football fan.
Careful...
Tossing/and or kicking a raw turkey could prove hazardous to one’s health. Please do not take spinmonkey’s comment as endorsed by sambunnell or Burnt Orange Nation. Minors may or may not read this site, and I shan’t be held responsible for salmonella poisoning and/or broken bones.
Pick your spots, Sam
Glad to have you here, and happy to see you contributing to the community so actively, but pick your spots a bit with Fan Posts.
With something like this post, you could consider a Fan Shot, or — better yet — drop this into a comment on a thread about something related to training/development/etc.

Got it.
Thanks, PB. Apologize for the misplaced post. I think I see the difference in a Shot and a Post now.
On another note…thanks for being the best Longhorns site out there. I’ve tried just about all of them, and I by a long shot enjoy BON the most. The quick and accurate reporting, the easily readable stories, and the affiliation with SBNation are what sets this blog apart, imo.
