Like, really good. Ranked #1 team in the nation, good. Texas his two of its' golfers ranked #1 and #2 individually in the nation and the top ranked is only a freshman. Whats the deal with golfers and going pro? Is it like a one and done thing, or do they usually stay all 4 years? Seriously...anyone?
Texas Golf finishes up the weekend on an absolute tear at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate, where THREE Texas golfers tied for First Place. 24th nationally ranked Julio Vegas, a junior from Venezuela shot rounds of 70-69-69=208, while 2nd nationally ranked senior Dylan Frittelli, and top ranked freshman phenom, Jordan Spieth shot rounds of 70-70-68=208 and 70-69-69=208, respectively. Jordan Spieth holed an approach shot on the 18th to force the three-way tie for first; however, according to Texas Golf Coach, John Fields, a playoff wasn't needed.
We have got three guys that won a golf tournament, that is how I am going to look at it. We are going to take all the positive that we can get. We are going to need those as we get into the end of the season and head into post season.
It wasn't just the top-3 that made noise this weekend, but senior Alex Moon was only one shot off the pace earning a tie for a 4th place finish.
I know its not Texas football, or basketball, or baseball, or even women's volleyball, but these horns are eyeing a certain tower that has been lacking a certain number lit up. With the nations' top squad at the halfway point of the golf season, things are looking very bright for this years' squad.
Hook em!
