Beam Me Up Scotty! I'm Headed to the Mothership

Back just before NSD, I announced that I was going to start using my real name on this site. While it was a change that I'd been contemplating for some time, a major part of the impetus behind that decision was something that I was only able to tease at back then.

I know that there were some concerns that I would move my work behind a paywall some time, especially with the Recruitocosm guys heading over the Inside Texas some months ago (and killing it over there, as well, I should add).

Without further delay, then, I'm proud to announce that I'm joining national recruiting editor Bud Elliott over at SBNation.com, where I'm going to be covering recruiting in the state of Texas and around the Big 12, while still continuing my normal contributions here at BON. If you haven't been following what Bud has been doing over the last few months since SBNRecruiting launched, now is a fantastic time to start.

Actually, you can start by checking out my first post, regarding the commitment of Rockwall-Heath DE Jay Arnold to Texas A&M. I know, I know, it's the Aggies, but I don't get to choose who commits where and when.

In an attempt to avoid too much detail, I'll simply say that I'm extremely excited to be a part of this and, besides how much I have grown to love the community here, a big part of the reason why I've been patient waiting for this opportunity at the expense of others is because I love the direction in which SBNation is headed and, as valuable as the services that the recruiting sites provide are, I want to do my part to ensure that consumers have a choice about whether or not they want to pay for that information.

As much as anything else, that's the impetus behind SBNRecruiting. And, for someone like me, what could better than getting in on the ground floor of something that I believe will eventually be a game-changer?

I hope y'all will be there with us when that groundswell reaches critical mass.

Viva la SBN!
