Longhorns Beat Missouri 6-4; Game 2 Open Thread

Texas baseball won its third straight game Friday night by jumping ahead of Missouri 5-0 then hanging on for dear life and 6-4 victory. Jonathan Walsh was the offensive hero on Friday, hitting a two run home run and scoring another run on a Jacob Felts double to give the Horns a five run cushion in the bottom of the 5th. Parker French was cruising until an apparent elbow injury ended his night in the bottom half of the 5th and by the time Hoby Milner turned things over to Corey Knebel in the 7th it was only 5-4.

The Horns got an insurance run in the 8th and Knebel got his ninth save on the season working 2.1 innings and throwing 34 pitches. Missouri ace Rob Zastryzny was as advertised but the Friday night victory puts Texas in excellent position to take the series today. Still no word on who will be on the mound for Texas, but both Milner and Knebel threw 30+ pitches thanks to French's early exit. In other words, Texas could really use an extended start from Thornhill, Peters or Jacquez today.

Game two starts at 1 PM. Join us here for an open thread as the Horns look to take another conference series.
