Currently committed to Michigan State, but listed as a soft verbal, 2013 Katy Seven Lakes offensive guard Caleb Benenoch has been on the Longhorn radar since the spring evaluation period, when he got an in-person look from Texas offensive line coach Stacy Searels.
Following a weekend camp visit to Austin, Benenoch is now firmly on the radar, having met with Mack Brown following the camp, after which he opted to adopt a policy of media silence for several days. That media silence did not, however, extend to Twitter, where he offered these thoughts on the Longhorns:
Whether the big lineman just meant that he enjoyed the camp and the competition, he did also offer this somewhat mysterious tweet:
Was definitely worth the 2 and a half hour drive! #HOOKEM— Caleb Benenoch (@CalebBenenoch79) June 11, 2012
Or could it mean that the trip was worth it because he received an offer from the 'Horns?
While he was at the camp, Benenoch apparently engaged in some epic battles with Texas commit Jake Raulerson, with whom he had apparently done battles in the past. In one rep, at least, Benenoch appeared to have the upper hand:
At the end, Benenoch generously offered to call the all-time series a draw.
Overall, the visit seemed to be overwhelmingly positive for the Houston-area product and if he did receive a Texas offer during his Sunday meeting with Mack Brown, it's hard to see Benenoch not seriously considering pulling the trigger and switching his commitment to Texas.
