And the hits just keep coming for Texas Longhorn freshman golf phenom Jordan Speith. Last weekend saw the UT Men's golf team light the tower with a victory over Alabama at the National Championships when Dylan Frittelli drained a 30 foot putt to secure the victory. Speith also performed well in the finals beating the Crimson Tide's Justin Thomas 3&2 in their head to head match-up. The very next day, Speith just missed qualifying for the U.S. Open after falling in a playoff following a 36 hole marathon at the Houston sectional.
Jordan did, however, put himself in great position to be included in the Open field as an alternate with his performance in the qualifier. Brandt Snedeker's withdrawl from the tournament field means that Speith will be competing in his first major tomorrow. He will be joined in the tournament field by former Longhorn Bob Estes as they compete in golfing's ultimate test. Speith will be teeing off at 3:14 p.m. Central time and Estes will be going off at 10:17 a.m.
Get your 'Horns up for Jordan and Bob as they represent UT at the U.S. Open this weekend.
Good Luck fellas and Hook'em Horns!
