Tommy Harmon Will Not Return To Texas Baseball

Stay connected for news and updates

Associate head coach Tommy Harmon has been given his walking papers by Augie Garrido. Harmon, whose prowess as a recruiter is well known, is the first departure from Garrido's staff following a terrible baseball season marked by injury, young pitching and terrible hitting. Harmon had a large role in developing hitters at Texas and the team's .260 batting average follows up team averages of .269, .288 and .288 the previous three seasons.

Harmon's contribution to the University of Texas baseball program is undeniable. We are sad to see him go but hopeful that a new coach will be able to combine Harmon's excellence on the recruiting trails with a better approach to hitting excellence.
