HELP!

So the new layout is really not usable for me and I am wondering what is up. I have a Mac and I use chrome for my web interaction. The new layout has the site with a blaring white background and light grey font in the stories which equals near unreadable content for me. Also, the proportions are all out of whack. When I zoom, pinch the side bars become monstrously huge and yet stay blank forcing the content in the middle to skew up and down but not actually get bigger left/right. Any insight?
