Game Day Experience @ DKR

So I've cooled down a bit since Saturday night, but I still have a few gripes I'd like to air about the general game day experience at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. I'm wondering if anybody else shares the same complaints.

First of all, if Mack wants me to continue to Come Early, he better do something about the god-awful pre-game music that plays while the team warms up. I'm sure that music is meant for the players, and not the fans, but sweet baby jesus it makes my eyeballs want to crawl out of my skull and into my ears to plug my hearing holes. Can we not get some ZZ Top or other Texas musicians out there? Do we have to be assaulted with rap music for an hour?

Moving on. The concessions are next to worthless, and they've been getting worse over the last few years. The stand nearest our seat (and this is one of the big, 20-yard-long stands) was out of hot dogs before kickoff. WTF? Did they not know there was a game on Saturday? I'm already aggravated at having to pay $5 for 25 cents worth of Coke; telling me there's no food doesn't help my attitude any. And using a freaking calculator to figure my change when I hand you a $10-bill just sets me free.

Next in line is the new pre-game intro video. In general, I like the concept. The clips are all too short, though, and I miss the animated Longhorns (not the minotaurs, though). On a related note, the "Make Noise" graphic is cool and seems like it would be very distracting to the other team...but can we work on our timing? It always seems to come on right after we've done something stupid (like fumble a snap) and the whole crowd has had the wind sucked out of them. I don't recall a single time on Saturday when it came on-screen when anybody around me felt like standing up again and making noise.

What happened to the Bevo video ("I've Got My Game On")? That was awesome. Why don't we have flyovers any more? And how do I make the girl next to me shut the hell up? I used to think it would be cool if my wife showed some interest in football; but after two years of sitting next to "I-can-regurgitate-everything-I-read-on-OrangeBloods" I'm starting to think that it would actually suck a lot. She is the human equivalent of the pre-game intro video: "Pull the guard! Fire zone! Wild Horn! Bergeron! Our Tight End situation! Crossing route! Crossing route! Fade! Zone Blitz! Yeah, Machete! McCoy's arm strength! Ash's pocket presence! Happy feet! They're in Cover-2! Statue of Liberty!" Supremely annoying.

Finally, last but not least - and I know this isn't the fault of anyone associated with UT - but I would just like to say again, for the record, that AT&T's coverage inside DKR is freaking horrible. There's really no point in even bringing my phone into the stadium. I can't make or receive calls, I can't follow the game thread, I can't use ScoreMobile to follow other games' progress (which I really need because DKR's score updates are either out of date or nonexistent). Been this way for about 3 years now. My dad's Verizon service works like a charm, FWIW.

All of that having been said, I love going to the games, and I'm sure we'll keep buying season tickets as long as we can afford it. I just with they'd do something about the little annoyances. What about you folks? What are your impressions of game day at DKR?
