Corey Knebel was named to Baseball America's Preseason All-America Second Team today.

Baseball America, the publication which recently left Texas out of its preseason Top 25, released its Preseason All-America teams today and Corey Knebel landed as a reliever on the Second Team. Knebel was the only Longhorn and one of only five Big 12 players on the three teams. He was also the only Big 12 player to place either First or Second team All-American.

Knebel, a junior, enters the season without a defined role after starting three games down the stretch last year. He's best used as a devastating closer but it remains to be seen if he will be needed to start games or close them. Knebel has just 9 saves in 2012 after having 19 his freshman year. That places Knebel within 13 saves of Huston Street's all time Texas record of 41.

Texas baseball, a squad that has beaten Kansas State 9 of the last 10 years, begins its season two weeks from tomorrow against Sacramento State.
