I believe the Mack Brown era at Texas is drawing to a close. I'm sad about it, because he is our second greatest coach. I don't want to join the mass lynch mobs in calling for immediate firing in disgrace, etc. The man has done right by the University and deserves better. He's done the job he was hired to do and done it well. Treat a UT coaching legend with some respect, Texas fans! Let him leave in peace. Same thing for DeLoss Dodds. Few in UT athletic history have orchestrated such meteoric success as Dodds. We owe him too much to revile his daughter when she defends him on this blog. Which brings me to my last thought: the quality of this blog. I am an SB Nation guy. I write regularly as a front page contributor for another blog, and my primary news source for my teams are the SB Nation blogs. I'm worried about BON because of the unceasing negativity that is turning each article into strict editorializing instead of reasonable sports analysis. I feel like many want to make this blog a bully pulpit, as though that were even possible. Me? I'm a Texas fan first. I'll cheer for Mack to lead us to victory in every game he coaches. I can never join Wescott or anyone else in hoping Texas loses so Mack will be fired. I think Mack's time is over at Texas, but I sure hope he goes out in a blaze of glory. Same for Dodds. Those guys deserve it. And they deserve better from us. Show some class, Texas fans. Show some understanding, and show some appreciation for the ones what brung us.
