Before I get into it, I would like to say that I back Mack, however, if Mack doesn't win the b12, hes probably outta here. This is just a what if scenario.
One name that I haven't heard mention since all the rumbling started is Lovie Smith. I cant think of another head coach that's available with the kind of head coaching chops that Lovie has.
People can talk Saban and Briles all they want, but building up a team, turning into a perennial winner in the nfl AND going to the super bowl is a damn sight more competitive than winning in college.
Just think of the kind of team that Lovie could build at TEXAS. He gets to recruit, doesn't have to wait his turn in the draft and no salary cap. I cant imagine he'd be a hard sell to recruits.
He's only 55 years old and would be a grand slam as far as the image TEXAS looks for in a head coach.
Ditto for Lovie being from Big Sandy and being a high school legend in east texas.
