Just thought I'd pose this question here. I am new to Burnt O Nation but from what I can tell, it is a community with a lot of negative nancies who seem a little bit spoiled, imho. I decided to check out what the internet had to say about something I heard on ESPN IMG radio. I was driving home last night in my new 2014 Chevy Silverado complete with an EcoTec3 V8 engine and 12,000 pound towing capacity (I was hauling, lol) and listening to ESPN IMG radio when a fan called into the afternoon program to complain. I didn't listen to all of it, because it sickens me when people are disloyal to the program, but I caught enough of it that it grinded my gears a little bit. The fan was talking about how Texas and the front office is suffering from an "entitlement epidemic." Yet, where is the evidence?
Mack Brown, from a completely unbiased standpoint, should be off the hook for this season because of what he has done for the program in the past. Football isn't about wins and losses, it's about finding men of character and winning with integrity. Imho, Mack has done that and more. I get a little chippy when I see fans complaining that the team isn't in the hunt for a Big 12 title like they are owed something. You think you are owed something from this university? Because, no you're not. Complaining about 4 losses without celebrating 8 great wins is indicative of a sour apple. Why not celebrate what this team is doing right? Why not celebrate how profitable the brand is? If you're worried about winners and losers, why don't you head over to the Moody school of Communication and ask them whose brand is the most recognizable in the NCAA. That's right, it's Texas. DKR is a brand friendly environment, and without our sponsors how do you think we would be able to provide such wholesome family fun?
So what if the team is having an off year. Are you forgetting they are plagued with injuries? That is completely unavoidable. It''s just bad luck, imho. It's almost as if you guys are starting to think that the Vince Young dash to the endzone on 4th down isn't relevant anymore. Well, shame on you. If you are familiar with trends, you'd notice that this team is trending upwards in the win category. It is a lengthy process, but again, one that is unavoidable. The team is excited. The team is ready to play. This isn't a good team, this is a great team. They are just having a spurt of bad luck.
So I ask you to stay with the fellas. Don't give up hope just yet. Do your part to help this team finish the season strong and become one of the greats. Don't knock Mack Brown on his talent evaluation as if you think you know more than he does. That doesn't seem smart now, does it? If you think he is losing because the team is talented, you're wrong. If anything, he has hindered himself by doing his part to recruit players the right way and keep the program clean. If you think the bowls we get are bad (and they aren't) then just wait until your beloved Saban gets here and brings along a bowl ban. You'll be craving for a little post season Buffalo Wild Wing madness.
Don't get angry. Get behind this team. They need us now more than ever. Our Team. Our Time. Our Conference.
