Thankfully the Case McCoy era is officially over. In fact, it ended better than I'd hoped... Case was the clear reason why our offense sucked, and he was outplayed by Tyrone Swoopes. Swoopes had a much smaller package and actually moved the offense at times with his feet and arm. Swoopes threw a beauty deep to Mike Davis, but what is recent Texas football without Davis dropping a deep touchdown? Swoopes had a long run for a first down. He looked damn near impossible to bring down without two or three guys on him. He did have happy feet at times, but so did a young freshman QB named Vince Young. Ash is safe. He is what he was recruited as. 3 Stars. He won't take us to the promised land, but he is serviceable to be a top 3 program in the conference. Ash is tough as nails but often appears to get rattled. He is mentally more serviceable than Swoopes, but physically Swoopes is the far superior specimen. Long term Swoopes has the opportunity to take us to bigger and better places. Thats why the QB job must stay open through the spring. Speaking of spring, Jerrod Heard is coming in. I think it is best that he redshirts a year. But... if he is the best overall QB then he should play. Perhaps we should consider a juco QB to add depth. Clearly I am in favor of Swoopes being the next face of the University of Texas, but what do you think?
