Gary Patterson told the Star-Telegram his favorite for the Big 12 Championship this year, "Right now, I’d be looking at Oklahoma State in our conference. Got those two good quarterbacks."
He's not talking about Wes Lunt, the first true freshman to start for the Cowboys. He's gone. No, he's talking about soon to be Senior Clint Chelf, who has started 6 games in his career. And J.W. Walsh, who started a handful of games last year before being injured.
Mike Gundy hasn't even declared a starter between the two for the 1st game of the season, but it looks like it might be Chelf's job to lose. Of his 6 starts, he lost to K-State, OU + Baylor. Wins over Texas Tech, WVU + Purdue.
Personally, I think it will be Texas, Oklahoma, TCU + Oklahoma State, in that order. I realize Mr. Patterson's answer was a measured response due to recruiting and all, but is there anybody other than Gary that thinks the Cowboys are going to finish in first? Or which of their QB's starts the season (please answer for both OSU and TCU)?
