David Ash declared out for Texas-Ole Miss game

Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

The Longhorns will be without their starting quarterback on Saturday.

Even though Texas Longhorns head coach Mack Brown said on Wednesday that junior quarterback David Ash would likely be a gametime decision on Saturday against Ole Miss, the school revealed on Friday afternoon that Ash will not play.

Ash left the BYU game last week after suffering head and shoulder injuries in the fourth quarter on his 16th rushing attempt of the game. Senior Case McCoy will start in his place, but the odds appear better late in the week that freshman Tyrone Swoopes may get a chance to play after Brown indicated he is back to full health and back on track with his development after a hamstring injury slowed him during fall camp.

It's the Case McCoy show on Saturday, y'all.
