Last night 4-Star DT Stanford commit Nifae Lealao announced that he has de-committed from Stanford. The Longhorns also have a 4-Star DE in Derrick Roberson who has given a verbal commitment to the Longhorns, so if we were able to land Lealao, Texas could arguably have the best Defensive Line in the NCAA. So if I were Charlie Strong, I would offer this kid a scholarship before he starts seriously talking to Vanderbilt.
Lealao announced his decommitment from Stanford over his Twitter account when he took a snapshot of the Team Stream update that announced his decommitment and tweeted "Yup its true....", assuring college football fans that he was no longer planning on wearing the Cardinal uniform next season. Even though Lealao is from California, I think if Texas pursues him with a Full Scholarship, he will be honored to come and play for the Charlie Strong and embrace the rich tradition of Texas Football.
The Longhorns have played under their high expectations since 2009, and the main reason behind having multiple lackluster season is the Texas defense. Last Season, Texas defense was one of the worst in the nation. Texas defense was so bad that they fired their Defensive Coordinator Manny Diaz after they had gotten lit up and run all over by BYU as their Quarterback Taysom Hill ran for three touchdowns. Now I don't mean to sound blunt here, but come on Burnt Orange Nation its BYU!
Nifae Lealao may have some second thoughts when he heres the name Texas since he's from California, but that's why we as a recruiting school need to jump on this guy and get him down to Austin for a visit. I guarantee if Charlie Strong can get a meeting with Lealao, he will be able to work his recruiting magic and Lealao will be a Longhorn. But Texas needs to act fast before Lealao commits to Vanderbilt.
