4-Star DE Commit Derick Roberson is the next DeMarcus Ware

Derick Roberson is the top recruit in the Longhorns 2014 recruiting class, so I guess you could say he is going to be a pretty big deal in Texas. DeMarcus Ware is arguably the best defensive player in the NFL, the face of the Dallas Cowboys, and can be recognized as a hero in Texas. So if you are the average Texan, you will probably who one of these guys are.

Both Roberson and Ware play the same position in football, which is Defensive End. This is an important position because you are relied on to put pressure on the quarterback. If you have a good Defensive End on your squad, he can change the outcome of the game by shutting down the quarterback and not giving him any time to throw. If Roberson is able to put pressure on the opposing quarterback, he will gain the liking of new head coach Charlie Strong and will most likely start for three years.

During High School, Roberson was known for the way that he stopped plays before they even began. What I mean by that is that if you are a running back and you are running to Derick Roberson's side, you probably won't even gain any yards. Roberson is even more feared by quarterbacks when they try to pass, he pretty much just manhandles the QB and gets the sack, and if he doesn't get the sack, he hits them hard enough that they don't make good passes and end up throwing a pick, which is similar to Ware when he would rush the passer with no fear in his eyes.

Another thing that Roberson and Ware have in common is on their chest and back, they both wear number 94 during games. One of the only differences between Roberson and Ware is where they are from. Ware is an Alabama native who wen't to Troy University and was drafted by the idiotic Jerry Jones in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft with the 11th pick. While on the other hand, Roberson is pure Texas beef. Growing up in San Antonio, at a height of 6'3 and weighing 225 lbs, its almost like he was destined to wear the burnt orange and play for the Texas Longhorns and become the next DeMarcus Ware. With signing day upon us, it is certain that Derick Roberson will begin his legacy in a Longhorns uniform, but how he will cement his legacy is a whole different story.
