Texas has just added another crucial peice to Charlie Strong's new high powered aggressive defense. On the most important day in the College Football offseason (Signing Day), Texas has signed not only DT Chris Nelson, but now we have signed a new member of the Texas Legion of Boom.
Texas has had a good recruiting class, but most of their recruits have been on the D-Line. Now I'm not saying thats a bad thing, but as I remembered watching the Longhorns in the following seasons, they have been lacking a shutdown Corner that can lock up on a star receiver. Signing Day is a big deal because not only do the Longhorns need a secondary, but their biggest priority has to be to sign Poona Ford.
If we are able to come out and land Poona Ford along with signing Kevin Shorter, this Texas defense is going to be feared in the Big-12. The way that Charlie Strong said that he runs his defense, he will be able to blitz and be agressive with guys like Derrick Roberson and Poona Ford on the D-Line. This Signing Day really has me fired up for the next Longhorns season.
