The lady longhorns dominated the big 12 track and field championships last weekend, led by Courtney Okolo (soph) who just set the NCAA record in the 400m dash in a time of 50.03 as Texas swept the top 3 spots in that event. By the way the women's NCAA 4x4 record is 3:24.54 which is certainly in jeopardy by the Texas squad if they do run it at the NCAA championships. Other Texas victories included Marielle Hall in the 1500m, Danielle Dowie in the 400m hurdles, and Shanay Briscoe in the high jump. In the 200m it was a sea of burnt orange as all 6 longhorns made it to the finals! They occupied 75% of the lanes on the track and Morolake Akinosun of Texas got the win in 22.17. She won the 100m earlier in the day in 10.96. The guys ended up finishing 2nd behind Texas Tech.
