Heyla, Longhorns fans!
I'm thinking about writing a fanpost for the OU SBN site crimsonandcreammachine.com, and wanted to do a little research into what the other side thinks.
Right, potentially hostile audience, I get it.
Please bear me out for a minute.
You see, when I was living in Chicago in the early 2000s, the following thing happened more than once: I was sitting on the El heading to work, wearing my OU cap and wishing that I had more coffee. And I would notice a fellow wearing his Texas Longhorns cap near me. The thing was, the two of us would naturally sit down and talk with one another. Why? Because nobody else in the world would understand.
Ours has been called the third greatest rivalry in all of college football, behind only Army/Navy and Ohio State/Michigan. (I might disagree with the second one, but hey.) We've been playing since 1900 and the tradition at the Cotton Bowl is something I've been fortunate enough to experience myself more than once.
I, personally, love to hate Texas and love it when OU beats Texas and hate it when we lose to Texas. (I was there last year, with seats in the Texas section no less.)
I wanted to ask you guys for the benefit of your experience. Can you give me stories of what it feels like to beat OU and what it feels like to lose to OU?
Thanks, Texas, for being our rivals. I love to hate you guys, and can't imagine not having you on our schedule. "That game - the rivalry game for us has always been Oklahoma. The A&M game's been a great game and all of that. And we may play 'em. But it's not something that we have to do. I think the Oklahoma game is something we have to do." -- DeLoss Dodds
