An important official visit weekend for the Texas Longhorns ended up starting early when Plano West running back Soso Jamabo changed his arrival date in Austin:

So Jamabo isn't expected to have as much time to spend on campus with his friend, Irving Cistercian quarterback Matthew Merrick, but it will give the Texas coaching staff a chance to spend some extra time with the nation's No. 2 running back and his family.
The Longhorns look like the only in-state option at this point after the consensus five-star prospect never went on his planned visit to College Station last weekend. Notre Dame and UCLA are currently thought to be the leaders and the Bruins have a significant lead in his 247Sports Crystal Ball at 39%.
Other than the appeal of early playing time with only one running back set to return this spring with any significant collegiate experience, keeping their son close to home could end being a major appeal for the Jamabo family.
And Texas was considered the early leader with Jamabo, too, before the new staff decided not to target him seriously until late in the process.
Last weekend, the Horns seemed to surge with LSU running back commit Nick Brossette. Now it could be time to do the same with Jamabo.
