As if the name alone wasn't enough to convince the Texas Longhorns to offer, a recent in-person evaluation resulted in Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange wide receiver Eddie McDoom's Longhorns offer on Monday evening:
Received an offer from the University of Texas today.

Though perhaps an ideal name for a defender, McDoom is a consensus three-star pass catcher ranked as the No. 360 prospect, the No. 60 wide receiver, and the No. 54 player in Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite. The 5'11, 170-pounder holds 20 offers, including Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Louisville, Miami, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Suffice it to say that his offer list is more impressive than his rankings.
McDoom took a variety of visits last summer, then attended Junior Days at Alabama and Auburn along with an unofficial visit to his perceived leader Florida, which currently holds all four predictions in his 247Sports Crystal Ball. A Gators fan growing up, McDoom once listed the school among his three leaders, a group that also included Alabama and Oregon, but he has since backed off that stance of naming a top group.
As a junior, McDoom caught 47 passes for 854 yards and 15 touchdowns. He's now one of three Florida wide receivers to hold offers from the Longhorns, joining Tre Nixon and Darnell Solomon.
