With the recent talk about the ESPN deal with the ACC, I started wondering about where Texas may land in the shuffle that is bound to happen in the next several years. There has been talk about Texas and OU going to the PAC or B1G together, but a better option might be to look at a merger of the BIGXII and ACC. There would be natural divisions (West and East), decent parity for football and the other sports would be well balanced. My thought was below:
Big XVI | ||
West | East | |
Baylor / Kansas St | Clemson | |
Kansas | Duke | |
ND | FSU | |
Oklahoma | Louisville | |
Oklahoma State | Miami | |
TCU | North Carolina | |
Texas | Virginia Tech | |
Texas Tech | West Virginia |
This leaves Baylor or KSU and Iowa St out from the BIGXII and BC, GT, Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia and Wake out from the ACC. It also assumes ND is in for all sports.
Sorry if this has been discussed already, if it has I missed it.
