Despite now having a summer of classes, practice and training at Texas underneath his belt, Longhorns freshman combo guard Andrew Jones’ final high school mixtape provides solid evidence of what fans can expect next season.
As seen above, Shaka Smart will have the luxury of molding a talent that can essentially do it all: score from all three levels, orchestrate and offense and put others in position to score, handle the ball and play defense. With Isaiah Taylor having departed for the NBA after his junior season, much of Jones’ skill set will be utilized as a point guard for the upcoming season, along with sophomore Kerwin Roach Jr. to make for a tremendously athletic two-headed monster in the backcourt capable of scoring in bunches.
Considering his multi-faceted ability that’s only getting better and an NBA frame for a point guard, it would be hard to envision Jones sticking around for more than a season or two. Enjoy this elite in-state talent while he’s in Austin.
