It took an extra five minutes, but the USC Trojans beat the Texas Longhorns, 59-53, in a slow and plodding game. Julien Lewis led all scorers with 17 points, but it was the physical interior play of Kevin O'Neill's squad that proved decisive down the stretch.
Senior forward Eric Wise was the leading scorer for USC, with 13 points, while senior guard Jio Fontan chipped in with 11 points and 6 assists.
Texas must now regroup yet again. The Longhorns will face Mississippi State tomorrow.
