The Finals: Heard v. Pedersen
Burnt Orange Nation - you have spoken. The votes have been tallied, and we've got our finalists for the BON Enemies of the Nation Tournament.
Readers Billyzane and OBdoc commented that Kellen Heard and Eric Pedersen shouldn't be meeting in the finals, while readers oregonlonghorn and abtxutfan noted that Heard meeting Hoge in the semifinals was a "seeding error".
I appreciate both sentiments, but respectfully disagree. And judging by the voting throughout this thing, I think it's pretty clear that Heard and Pederson are the top two enemies of the Nation for 2006. My reasoning in placing them in opposite brackets was that, if my hunch was correct that these two asshats were the worst sinners of the bunch, we'd have ourselves the ultimate question to decide in the finals:
Namely, which is worse? A truly nasty, brutish late hit that injured the hell out of our star quarterback? Or a column from a bitch Aggie columnist glorifying the awful play?
I don't think there's any question that these two deserve their spots in the finals. But I do think it's a hell of an interesting question as to who committed the more unforgivable sin.
I've refrained from leading the audience in these posts by jumping in with my opinion, and I won't start now. It's up to you to decide: who, and which, is worse?
You're all urged to vote, of course, but as interesting a question as this is, I hope you'll also make your case in the comment section below. When the winner is announced on Monday, I'll make known my own thoughts on each and every one of these clowns.
Happy Voting!

Tough One
Heard's hit was cheap and dirty but it happens pretty often. There is usually a cheap shot every couple of games. If he actually inflicted long term damage then definitely but he is just another idiot who makes a bonehead play.
Pederson is worse because not only did he say that but it was published or posted online on a reall newspaper college or not glorifying the act. How stupid are you? Even an OU writer wouldn't say that horrible. Him and McGee are probably love bodies something because i don't how you like a qb that can't complete a pass.
I don't know but when you have trouble throwing the ball then you are not a qb. Its just what i heard. But anyways it has to be Eric Pederson but the enemy of this site specifically not all Longhorn fans has to be Sooner mom and how she defende her son.
I didn't even know that there were computers in Oklahoma. I thought it was an urban legend.
Also i vote for pederson because of how much a fag that he looks like embarrassing. Someone get his email so we can talk trash please. Ridiculous.

Please
We insist that the discourse here remain above the nastiness that this very tournament seeks to call out.
Thanks.

Heard or Pederson
Heard's discretion was influenced by the heat of the battle.
Pederson's discretion was the latent drivel of an idiot with a keyboard.
Pederson wins....

Can't Have Pederson...
by Longhorn13 on Jan 18, 2007 9:36 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
after i said that
There's an argument for Pedersen, namely that what Heard did can partially be excused because football is a game of passion and violence and Heard could've just gotten too caught up in the moment and done something stupid and hurtful. But Pedersen had plenty of time to collect his thoughts (not to mention look in the mirror) and write something coherent and moderately intelligent. But he didn't.
But I'm voting for Heard because what he did ultimately makes him more our enemy than Pedersen. Calling Pedersen the enemy of the nation is like calling Brazos the enemy of the nation. He's a douche, but he's just a flame-thrower. He's a moron who everyone agrees is a moron. The retarded kid in the corner of the room is not my enemy.

I also think it's an interesting question

And having thought about it, I'll still go with Heard.

I was tempted
Obviously, we're in agreement: this is the most interesting question.
And, really, let's face it. Even had these two clowns met in the semifinals, the winner would have won the finals. I think it really is appropriate that these bitches meet in the finals.
I loathe them both immensely.

I'm surprised no one's quoted Obi:
If the latter (Pedersen), "the greater fool" is at odds with "enemy," which brings with it the idea of "respect for one's opponent," i.e., no one respects the greater fool.
I think billyzane is on the right track when he notes that Pedersen isn't worthy of the respect that "enemyhood" brings. But then again, none of these bitches are (in the way that, say, OU as a program certainly is).
That said, I don't think we as a community can let Pedersen win, if only because you know he's going to wear that shit as a badge of honor.

Agree with Billy and a0nyme
Heard, on the other hand, actually, physically hurt one of our players in an extraordinarily cowardly and malicious manner. This to me makes him the greater enemy.
Pederson's a waste of air who tries to appeal to the dregs of society. Heard's a gargoyle who eats babies and plays poker every Friday with Merrill Hoge, Sooner Mom, and Perriloser.

I think it's gotta be Pedersen
A repulsive as Heard's hit was, it was committed in the heat of battle against a hated rival.
Pedersen taking glee in said repulsive hit, then defending the hit from any angle he could is just unforgivable.

Kind of like a really retarded pit bull is worse than a really stupid lap dog, although both are just worthless bitches...

Wow, i was swayed at least 6 times throughout
I hear all the comments about "heat of battle", "hated rival", and cant help but think, at some point you have to know restraint. Im not talking about restraint in the sense of not playing hard. Im talking about knowing that he could have knocked McCoy down without flattening him. Heard knew what was he was going to do, he knew he had an opportunity to lay a lick on McCoy and he had to know the play was over. He also knew the hit COULD re-injure McCoy. This all leads me to believe that the hit was meant to end the game for McCoy.
I also hear all the comments about glorifying the act. But i also view the glorification as idiotic notions of a weak little punk who has no right talking about toughness standing on the sidelines or sitting in front of a computer screen. Unless hes stepped on the field of battle and been leveled like that he should keep his damn mouth shut. I know its his job to write but if hes going to write about a thing like toughness he needs to posess the attribute hes writing about. Much like many of the people who write sports or comment on sports in the media.
But i come to my final thought. If anyone is going to wear this like a badge of honor he better deserve it. Id rather Heard get the "honor" of being our enemy than a little punk who doesnt deserve to have an audience, much less bear the weight of BON's hatred.
Heard is the bigger Douchebag both literally and figuratively.

I know Fran issued an apology
Pedersons bitch a$$ would never issue and apology. Dont ask me how i know. He just looks like a little punk that would still try to convice us that Heards hit was legit(insert MC Hammer reference here).
I bet if he knew (i hope he does) that we were running this he would more than likely write something else about it, or about this site. If that happened id like to change my vote.
