Did they define "Best Performance?"
The order of games also seems a little bit off. 2004 Kansas was actually pretty miserable game for Vince overall. It wasn't until the last two minutes when he picked up the 4th and 18 and threw the winning TD pass that he came alive. Same with 2005 Ohio State...great ending, but a pretty dismal game overall. Not saying they shouldn't be on the list, but I'd move games like 2005 Rose Bowl and the 2005 Big XII Championship up. Those were games where VY dominated from start to finish.
BTW, speaking of VY...as brought up earlier on the BON, he was asked to judge the Miss USA pageant last weekend. Who won? Miss Tennessee. Yeah, funny how that happened. Wikipedia is creating a new word right now, it's called:
CoinciVince: When people or things win for no good reason other than being near Vince Young.

Move up 03 K-State
Anybody remember when Vince clearly sprained his ankle in the endzone, but pushed forward 10 yards to avoid the safety and preserve victory? Sick I tell you, absolutely sick

flip it
i would put 2005 Oklahoma State instead of 2004 Oklahoma State because 2004 Oklahoma State was more of a team effort than just a case of inVinceability. 2005 Oklahoma State, on the other hand, was just a sickening case of inVinceability.

forgot
3rd and 11 from the 19 yard line --> 81 yard touchdown run.

Disagree
I was at the 2004 OK-State game. And with 1:30+ to go in the first half, we were dead 35-7. I mean dead. The game was over. I was hoping that if EVERYTHING went our way, and NOTHING went their way in the 2nd half.... Maybe....we could get within 20 points and not be embarrassed.
And we came out in the second half and Vince set the consecutive completions record (12) and completion prctg record (85.7) in that game and had 280 yds passing & 400+ yards of total offense. We won by 21 POINTS! 56-35.
It was 3 points shy of the NCAA Record for largest comebacks.
Vince was a beast that day.

Although,
The pump-fake/80 yard run shall live forever.

true BUT
it was an 81 yard run. just to be precise

actually, it was 80

I remember because I thought the run was longer that Jamaal Charles' run in the OU game, but it was officially the same length.

urgh damnit!
I give up. you're right. Although the ball was spotted on the 19 yard line. they took a yard away from VY.

The Defensive stats in the 2nd half
might have been the best half of defense in Texas history.

I concur
I was sitting on the 50 yard line, about 10 rows up from the Ok. St. bench, the best seats I've ever had for a Texas game. I brought my new girlfriend and only because I didn't want to puss out in front of her did I stay during that second quarter (the only game I've ever walked out of was the UCLA 66-3 debacle). Thank God I did and saw the most masterful comeback this side of Pasadena.
Without His Holiness VY though, it would have never happened. The team rallied around him and made it happen. I'd venture that almost any other Longhorn tema would have folded, and it would have been totally justifiable. To get down that much in the first half is just too demoralizing.
The '05 Ok. St. comeback was great too, but we knew it was coming, no matter how bleak it got.

Thats it.......
The Defense that night, just like 4th and 1 against USC, knew that if they could stop Okie state, that anything could happen when you have VY at QB. I think thats called "LEADERSHIP" at its best.
They believed in Vince more than I did that night.
I drank way to much Whiskey (JD Black and H20)while I watched the "whole" game on TV. To go from wanting to puke at halftime to unbelievable elation during the second half. I mean the defense put the hurt on the second half.
I'll put it to you like this, VINCE YOUNG is the only football player in my 54 years that I'll sit on the edge of my seat every play that he is in a game, no matter the score. I'm now a big time Titans fan..........

disagree
Although I agree that Vince was a beast that day (04 OK St), but 04 OK State was more of a team effort rather than a solely Vince Young affair. No doubt VY was the biggest beast on the field, but he got significant help from Benson, David Thomas, and Bo Scaife. And I dont think we could have made it without Benson (23 attempts, 141 yards, 5 TDs), Thomas (34 yards) or Scaife (70 yards, 1 TD) or Sweed (4 rec 70 yards). Also remember Ramonce Taylor's end around 48 yard touchdown run. That was AMAZING!
On the other hand 05 OK state was just another case of, as mentioned before, inVinceability.
VY had 21 attempts and 267 yards. whereas Taylor and Charles had a combined 12 attempts and 91 yards. VY had a total of 4 touchdowns. VY spread the ball pretty evenly and racked up another 239 yards through the air.
In 04 VY had a 123 yards on the ground and 278 through the air with a total of 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
In 05 VY had 267 yards on the ground and 239 through the air with a total of 4 touchdowns and 1 interception.
VY was great both years, but he had more help in 04 than in 05.

(I accidentally posted this somewhere below, it was actually intended to be a reply to the above post, so here it is)

The greatness of the moment
and the size of the comeback compensates for the difference you are talking about. He didn't do it quite as all-by-himself in '04, but it was a much bigger moment. It was incredible. You can put all the numbers next to it you want, I was there. vince did it. He had help, but only because HE inspired them. They rallied around him. Ask the players. Ask anyone who was there that day.
Now, if he hadn't played great that day, we could talk. But he had over 400 yards of total offense and he set 2 passing records that day. come-on.
PS. You cannot site Recievers Statistcis "Thomas (34 yards) or Scaife (70 yards, 1 TD) or Sweed (4 rec 70 yards)." when you are saying the QB had help. who do you think threw them the ball?

Agree with 54b
You gotta include the 2004 Tech game, known in the annals as The Historic Turning Point when Mack said, "Run Vince! Run Free!" 2005 Oklahoma State was a pale comparison to 2004 Oklahoma State, and 2005 Colorado (Big XII) was just a laugher. 2005 Missouri? Jog my memory .. 2004 Tech surpasses any of those.

2005 vs. 2004 OSU games
I know the 2004 game was a bigger deal in terms of the sheer insanity of the comeback and that vince played a great role in that, but do you guys remember his stat line in the 2005 game? 267 yards rushing, 239 passing. as far as an individual performance, 2005 was one of his best.

I was drinking twice as much during the 2004
game as I was during the 2005 game. I guess alcohol is clouding my judgement, but I'm sticking with 2004.

2005 Mizzou
Game recap...
http://54bblog.blogspot.com/2005_10_...
It was billed as a trap game because it was on the road, the weekend before TX/OU and Mizzou had a decent team paper like they always do.
The game was memorable because the refs called UT for holding like 15 times in the first half and VY converted a 3rd and 32 (something ridiculous like that) with his legs. It was sick, we're talking Nintendo Football sick. I was in Columbia for the game and some Mizzou fans actually got up. Miss Mizzou had to add demoralized Tiger fans to her list of charitable causes.
